Loving this Board... former 'BRU staff

I was introduced to Radio-Info by a friend in San Francisco last year, and I recently started reading the Providence board. It's taken me a while, but I've sifted through all of it. You guys are far more entertaining (don't tell the Bay Area people), and I love all the B101 posts. Anyway, there was an old post about former 'BRU staff going into broadcasting, and here's what I know (if anyone is actually interested):

Alison Stewart: Went to MTV as a producer and then a reporter for MTV News. She also worked a bit in New York radio (the former WDRE, Z100, WNEW) and is now on MSNBC.

Karyn Bryant: Became a VJ at MTV, then was a host on fX when it first started. She worked for TNT and hosted "Name That Video" on VH1 and is now host of "Showbiz Tonight" on CNN.

Alexa Tobin: Worked part time at 'FNX and then became program director of WEQX in Vermont. Was briefly PD back at 'BRU in the mid-90's, then went to K-ROCK in New York where she was APD/MD. Spent a little time back at WEQX and is now, I believe, out of the business.

Dolby: Worked part time at WRX in the 90's.

Wendell G: Works at a station in Portland Maine. I believe he works off the air, but he may do some weekend air shifts.

Ted McEnroe: Became a TV news producer and now works for New England Cable News (I believe).

Tim Schiavelli: Worked at station in Bangor, Maine, and then was PD back at 'BRU for a bunch of years. Now with Broadcast Architechture.

Doria Blaze: Last I heard was PD at a station in New Hampshire.

Big John Lund: Was working in the air in the South... not sure where he is now.

And me... Worked in New England at B101, WMJX in Boston, WALE (what a party that was) and had brief stints at WOTB, WPRO-AM and Lite 105. Moved to San Francisco and have worked for KLLC (Alice@ 97.3), KIOI (Star 101.3), Shadow-Metro and KCBS.

WHICH WALE? It feels like it probably was the 990 iteration
but might it have been the original WALE, 1400, in Fall
River? Where I started in radio in 1959, though I later
served some time at 990-WLKW in the 60's!

Hey Melissa!

Any truth behind KLLC flipping to CHR? Actually, I heard through a friend who used to work at "Z 95.7" before they flipped...

Let a brother know :)

To Les: I was at WALE during the notorious Battaglia years, so we were Talk on 990-AM. I did news, production, hosted a talk show and scheduled the (few) commercials. Frankly, it was the longest 14 months of my career, but in hindsight, really funny. And I have great stories from working there.

And to the the Guy in Radio: I have no idea if Alice (KLLC) will switch to CHR. I just finished my second tour of duty there (I was just hired full time at their sister station, KCBS), but all I can say is they have added more pop/chr-type titles. However, as far as I know, they are still a Hot AC and will remain such. We were Modern AC when I worked there the first time in the late 90's, but things do change. At any rate, I'm not necessarily a good source for information on that one...

Also... in my original post, I forgot to mention Carolyn Fox, who we all know went from 'BRU to 'HJY. And I believe Christiane Amanpour, who was not a Brown student, worked at 'BRU one summer or winter break or something.

Were you at Alice in '97?
______________

I heard Alice for the first time in February '97 driving to Mendicino, from SF. If you were on the air during mid days I probably was listening to you.
______________

You know, that was likely Gretchen. Unless I was covering for her, which I did all the time....
