Low Power AM streaming from Dallas

Radio Daily News is reporting that Steve Eberhart's North Dallas 1650 AM ("The biggest 'little' station in Dallas") is now streaming at http://24.213.58.37:1650/listen.pls. You'll need a Real Player.

Thanks for the tip. I listened for a while, and it was like Dallas radio in the 60's and 70's mixed together with old local commercials, I haven't heard since then. The news had beep-beep-beep-beep sounders inserted between the stories just like KLIF and KBOX, a weather jingle, even a time tone at the top of the hour. It sounds like lots of archiving has been done through the years, and this is the place to put it all back together. Great job!

JACK FM SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! AS DOES MOViN'... Get Sirius...deal with it! :-*

It is 2006, not 1976.

Deal with it... and listen to JACK-FM! :)

Yipee!! It looks like Kurt Johnson and his heavyweight major league Jack employees posting on here again :D

If hes running it as a LEGAL Part 15, 100 Milliwatts or 1/10 watt.

What part of DFW is Steve's station located? I would like to drive around that area and see how far it reaches (proably a few blocks).

The webcast sounds great, nice mix of compression along with the mono 24kbps bitrate to give it that classic AM sound.

Steve,

Isn't that the same amount of power released by a million butterfly sneezes (simultaneously, of course)? Just kidding, it really does sound great on the internet. I'll look forward hearing it "on air" this weekend. Speaking of this weekend...I may have a ticket for you...if you're still interested.

Steve: You might want to turn your volume down some on the Internet. It sounds loud and distorted.

I suspect it sounds distorted because it is streaming at 24 kbs. With the right encoding, 32 can sound OK, but 24 is stretching the point. Interesting programming though...

Steve's really compressing the audio to get the most out of those 100 milliwatts! Mp3 streaming at low 16-24 kbps bitrates is always going to sound distorted and tinny no matter what volume. I like the way it sounds now, and 32kbps mono would be a improvement if Steve has the bandwidth to spare.

Just a suggestion but, SimpleCast at 32 kbs stereo, sounds reasonably good. You can download it on the net. Just Google for it. It doesn't cost much.
