Low Power, Ca and Tx stations.

If this was discussed somewhere else please redirect me.

There are a lot of low power, tx and ca's still listed as being on that went off the air some time ago.

I know some are still up and running HSN or religious programs.

Are there any analog lp's still running any networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, ME TV, ANTENNA TV, THIS OR RTV?

You could include some of the lesser know such as America One and those types.

I would imagine they would be in very rural areas, with smaller populations that relay from bigger towns. Where they don't see investing into DTV as worth it.

Stations that have some viewers and are just riding it out until 2015.

If you know a station please list it here and tell us what they are running.

If you know of a station still running a network still list it, I am curious to know.

Some Low-power stations have already converted to digital such as WSHM-LP the CBS affiliate in Springfield, Mass. They were on Channel 67. Their digital assignment is 21 I believe. WSHM-LP also piggy-backs on sister station WFSB Channel 3.2 in Hartford, CT. I also believe their master control is at WFSB.

Meanwhile in Hartford, Conn WRNT-LP Channel 48 - RTV (and it's simulcast Partner WTXX-LP Channel 34 in Springfield, Mass) is for sale and has not converted to digital.

One I know is KOTR-LP 2 in Monterey, CA. They are MNTV, and still analog. Then you've got KCWQ-LP 2 which is CW in Palm Springs, but they also are digital on 26.

A couple off the top of my head near the lakehouse in North Central MN...both are translators

39 in Aitkin is still Fox (relays KQDS Duluth)
16 in Brainerd is ABC (relays KSAX/KSTP)
48 in Brainerd is FOX (KMSP)....but can't get that

Actually all the translators of KQDS are still analog
Call letters Channel City of license Transmitter location
K15GT 15 Hibbing, Minnesota southwest of downtown
K29EB 29 Grand Rapids, Minnesota northwest of Taconite
K31GH 31 Hayward, Wisconsin east of city
W32CV 32 Ironwood, Michigan Hurley, Wisconsin
K39GG 39 Aitkin, Minnesota east of Rabbit Lake Township along the Crow Wing and Aitkin County line
K45JD 45 International Falls, Minnesota east of city
W45CI 45 Ashland, Wisconsin
K47IR 47 Virginia, Minnesota Midway

Bemidji has 28 (ABC..KSAX) & 30 (FOX KMSP)
Alexandria still has one analog station on their "Selective TV" setup and that is 18 KSAX

An actual station (not a translator) KQEG-CA 23 in LaCrescent (Lacross area) is Ion and local programming

The NBC affiliate for the Great Falls, MT market is KBGF-LP, a satellite of KTVH-DT in Helena, MT, which is a separate market. The Great Falls newspaper recently had a story mentioning that viewers in Great Falls are unlikely to see the upcoming Olympics in HD on NBC, since the owner of KBGF has yet to make definite plans for broadcasting the station in digital, much less HD.

Last I heard, WSPY-CA Plano, IL is still broadcasting in analog. Their analog station is on 30, but they have a companion channel for 35, but have yet to convert to digital. They air America One.

WOCH-CA Chicago is still analog, & airs Korean programming from KBC or Arirang, along with some shopping channel in English. Their analog is on 41, but have a CP to move to 49 for digital. For now, they're available on sister station WOCK-CD on RF 4 on virtual channel 13.2.

Weigel Broadcasting is keeping WWME-CA Chicago on the air until either the transmitter goes out, or until 2015 (whichever comes first). WWME-CA 23 used to air MeTV, but switched to a simulcast of WCIU first, then switched to a simulcast of WCIU's subchannel 26.2, the U Too (timeshift programming & select syndicated programming not on WCIU's main channel). WWME-LD on RF 39 is in digital (companion channel to WWME-CA 23), & won't be able to get Class A status until they decide to stay on 39, or flash-cut 23 to digital. The digital side airs MeTV & Bounce.

WKQX-LP 6 Chicago is what some people call a Franken FM station. They were WLFM-LP, operating a Smooth Jazz format, but the current call letters bring back Alternative Rock. Once 2015 rolls around, Venture Technologies will have to decide to turn the license back in to the FCC, or convert the station to digital, & actually operate as a TV station. They have a CP to flash-cut to digital at the same 3kw as their analog station is now, but would be less directional, since there's no station in Chicago broadcasting on channel 5 (WMAQ-TV moved to channel 29).

WEDE-CA 34 Arlington Heights, IL airs religious programming, & programmed locally. They have a CP to convert to digital, but so far hasn't done so. Not sure if they're in a hurry to do so, since they're already available on WJYS 62.2 Hammond, IN.

Otherwise, most low power, translators, & Class A stations in Chicagoland have converted to digital.

Here's the Birmingham LP/CA's FWIW
WBXA-CA rf 2 (cp for RF 12) - Allegedly MTV2, but I can find no evidence of a signal
W20DE (HSN on air in digital, replaced analog rf 34)
WBUN-CA (Daystar, rf 28, cp for digital RF 27)
WBMG-LP (rf 38 with digital cp for RF 43) - Can't verify the existence of any signal
W46DK (TBN, cp for RF 17)
W47DC (local religious, will likely flash cut)

WYAT-LP (analog ch. 40) in Martinsville, VA is an affiliate of FamilyNet. They signed on analog in 2005, and, as far as I see in the FCC records, have NOT applied for a digital companion channel or flash cut yet.

I think there is an analog LPTV still operating in Boone, NC. The one at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA just recently turned off its analog. There are quite a few LPTV channels around that are owned by Daystar or 3ABN (through subsidiary organizations) that have not converted to digital yet.

They will all have to convert or sign off permanently by September, 2015 according to FCC edict.

Later . . . .

forgot one in Minneapolis

WUMN 13 is Univision

Use to be at 110 watts due to short spacing with 13 Eau Claire and 13 in St Cloud (analog days). They did upgrade to 1250 watts but do not have any digital station reserved yet. Use to be owned by Equity Broadcasting but is now owned by a bank I think

Just queried the FCC database, WLNN-LP in Boone, NC is still running analog with an application to go digital.

All the Little Rock AR area analog LPTV/Class A stations have already converted to DTV or have gone silent. The final holdout, KLRA-LP 58 went silent on analog last year. Some reports of AVS Forum in metro Little Rock have stated that a DTV station on RF 16 ( PSIP 58-1) was recently observed.

The closest analog LPTV here at present is KWMS-LP 17 West Monroe LA which is affiliated with RTV and Family Net. Memphis and Jackson MS have "Franken FM" operating as "radio stations" on analog ch6 (most FM radio will pick up the 87.75 ch 6 analog audio carrier).

Cleveland/Akron (Canton) from the top of my head:

WAOH-LP 29 Akron/W35AX 35 Cleveland: RTV affiliate simulcast, still in analog, digital apps for both filed. I sense they're not going to do it until the CP is about to expire.

WIVM-LPD52 Canton and its associated simulcasters in small cities outside Canton (Newcomerstown/Millersburg/Loudonvllle): RTV affiliates for the southern part of the market. I believe their entire network has converted to digital now.

WCDN-LP 53 Cleveland (RF 7): This is the only digitally converted LPTV in the Cleveland part of the market. Daystar (religious) O&O. Briefly carried the last video incarnation of the following station on its 53.2.

WLFM-LP 6 (formerly WXOX-LP/65) Cleveland: This was an HSN affiliate. Moved to analog 6 to become one of those "Franken FM" pseudo-radio stations. Currently testing with a video/audio loop, and is expected to launch as radio station "87.7 Clevelanders Rock" in the next month or two. No idea what they'll do with the video carrier, but they'll ride the radio side/analog audio until 2015.

Assuming the operation lasts that long, or Venture Technologies continues to run it as a radio station...

The last analog station in Duluth was K58BS, which re-transmitted TBN on channel 58, probably since the 1980s.  They have been off the air for about two or three years.  They were originally going to go digital on channel 41, but that never materialized.  They were received weakly in black and white 9 miles from the transmitter site with rabbit ears, and with an almost "local-grade" image with a VU-190XR or CM 4228.

A short-lived analog LP was KDUL-LP 12, which went on the air after some delays in August 2000 and started broadcasting officially around October that year.  They carried a mix of UPN, America One, and a local show, "The Average Guys", that had been on public access cable for a long time.  Their signal was weak and never quite produced a clear picture here, even with a huge VU-190XR rotated rooftop antenna.  Neither did they for the cable company who carried them.  They went off the air after a transmitter fire.

Duluth also once had a scrambled UHF cable TV subscription service, which my family briefly subscribed to when they moved to a new home beyond the reach of cable.  That was back in the day when all there was for satellite TV was C-band and (maybe) Primestar.  I still remember the channel line-up:

15 Sci-Fi Channel
27 CNN
30 TBS
32 USA Network
34 TNN or TNT?
36 Discovery Channel
38 Family Channel
56 Showtime
60 Nickelodeon

They were going to expand to channels 62, 64, and 66, but never did.

They lasted until 1996, when small-dish satellite had become affordable for most people.  We got them in December 1993; I'm guessing they were around since 1992.

Many such systems operated around the state in the 1990s. They all seem to be closed now, with the exception of Selective TV in Alexandria, but they've always been supported by donations.

Northpine lists the following stations as still being in operation in analog:

50 K50DB Alexandria, MN (1.56 kW, carries The Weather Channel)
28 K28DD Bemidji, MN (16 kW, relays KSTP-5 ABC Minneapolis/St. Paul)
30 K30DK Bemidji, MN (16 kW, relays KMSP-9 FOX Minneapolis/St. Paul)
16 K16BQ Brainerd, MN (15.6 kW, relays KSTP-5 ABC Minneapolis/St. Paul)

5 K05IV Park Falls, MN (19w, relays KVRR-15 FOX Fargo)
32 K32FY Park Rapids, MN (13.9 kW, relays KSTP-5 ABC Minneapolis/St. Paul)
19 K19CA St. James, MN (900w, relays KEYC-12 CBS Mankato)
51 K51GL Vesta, MN (45 kW, carries 3ABN)
47 K47FR Virginia, MN (16.1 kW, relays KQDS-21 FOX Duluth)
17 K17FE Wadena, MN (25 kW, relays KSTP-5 ABC Minneapolis/St. Paul)
33 K33KC Wadena, MN (800w, relays KMSP-9 FOX Minneapolis/St. Paul)
25 K25JZ Walker, MN (850w, relays KMSP-9 FOX Minneapolis/St. Paul)
49 K49CU Walker/Hackensack, MN (8.82 kW, relays KMSP-9 FOX Minneapolis/St. Paul)
30 K30FZ Willmar, MN (11 kW, relays KSAX-42 ABC Alexandria)
22 K22HJ Worthington, MN (12.3 kW, relays KTTW-17 FOX Sioux Falls)

The KQDS translators are owned by the same company who owns KQDS (Red River Broadcasting). Many of the other translators are owned by community TV corporations who own various other digital translators in the city of their license.

Thank you all. It appears that MN. has a lot of channels, with popular networks like Nbc and Fox.

I will have have to get to MN. with my tent and Coleman portable TV/light/bug repellent/disstress light/death ray/rocket launcher, lol.

If you were ever a big camper, you know what I'm talking about. ;)

Re: Low Power, CA and TX stations

The Vancouver/Portland area still has the low-power NTSC rebroadcast of KRCW on channel 5. K14HN's still on the air, but has been transmitting only a black screen for the past several months. Other than that, everything else is ATSC.
