Low-power channel 6 still on?

I was checking the TV band of my Sony Walkman while in midtown Manhattan on Thursday. Is that low-power station on channel 6 still on the air? (I didn't get anything but noise from the nearby E.S.B. on channel 6.)

I visited Fair Lawn, NJ for Thanksgiving and was able to hear the audio on 87.7 with my CD player... nothing on any of the TVs though.

Channel 6 has a very odd coverage pattern. I live in Jersey City with a clear line of sight to NYC and I get no reception at all on channel 6.
