Low Powered Open Narrowcast here in Australia

Afternoon all,
I have just signed up and would like to exchange experiences between us here in Oz and your operations in USA.
I run and operate an LPON here in Australia and our station operates 24/7 with 50's-80's music and local content.
I do look forwatrd to being able to swap notes with you guys and maybe be able to give some ideas of what happens over here

Have a great day.
Peter

Hi Peter,
What can you tell us about the technical parameters of your transmitting installation? We know TPO is 1.2 Watts, what is the Effective Radiated Power, height of transmitting antenna above ground? What is the reception radius of the station? Thanks and G'day!

Peter-

Wish we had a service similar to yours!

The USA doesn't permit individual citizens with real access to the FM airwaves, the way New Zealand and Australia do.

Pretty sad for the 'Land Of The Free'...

Detailed information about LPON can be found by googling LPON+Australia. It is a little like the New Zealand system, but a license is required and channel availability is very restricted. You won't have a lot of stations operating simultaneously on the same channel in urban areas, like in New Zealand. It looks like Australia learned from New Zealand's experience.

I can imagine the FCC allowing something like LPON, maybe in the upper part of the Channel 6 TV spectrum, while the chaos of the New Zealand system would not be tolerated.
