Lowest KUBE ratings ever, in December PPM

Great theory, although there are a bunch of alt stations around the country searching for a morning show right now.
But Puke & Phlegm In The Morning are a tough act to follow.

Alt933.com leads to iHeartRadio's home page.

I'll have to see when that domain name was registered.

Edit: it was registered way back in 2014.

Woody performs rather poorly in the ratings in most markets the show currently airs or has previously aired outside of L.A. It would probably be a mistake to build a station around his show in Seattle, especially on a blowtorch signal. Then again, this is iHM we're talking about, so such an outcome wouldn't surprise me.

I think Alt933.com was initially created in support of programming that was airing on an FM translator in Minneapolis.

That is correct. (I did listen to them somewhat whenever I’d make a trip to the Cities, but not often.)

In regards to Woody’s announcement...it was cash related. False alarm!

Monitor the processing of the station. They usually adjust the processing a few hours before they flip.

In Milwaukee, they flipped WRNW from CHR to Sports at Midnight 11-27-18. They started changing the processing during the 9PM hour. It was very subtle, but you could tell they were setting it up for a Talk format.

Stunting is often used to set up the studio and processing for the new format to allow things to go smooth. It’s not aways easy to tell by the processing what will be done. The same Milwaukee station I mentioned went from AC to Classic Rock in 2004. They led people to believe the new format would be Progressive Talk in the stunting, but kept adding thump and bass to the processing. Made the rock songs that were in the stunt loop sound good. Same deal when they flipped from Classic Rock to CHR. They had the processing sounding way too big and energetic for Classic Rock in the days and weeks leading up to it. I thought it sounded like CHR processing. It turned out I was right.

By the way, what is currently running on 96.5 HD2? They recently yanked the stream for it and the website is full of broken links. ALT 96.5 - Seattle's Rock Alternative

Currently playing on 96.5 HD2 at 7:19pm PST is The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony. Previous song was Foo Fighters.
HD data still id'ing as Alt 96.5 JACK-FM HD2

They are currently doing a studio and rack room remodel at the iHeart factory in Seattle... Reducing the rack room down to four or five racks total and moving everything else to the TX sites... Also cutting back their square footage of both studio and office space in the same existing building. Some of these issues could be related.

Maybe. Did you read this article about the future of iHeart's offices?

They want a more flexible work environment. Sounds like work on that has already begun.

How much of the studio/office space is being reduced? Are we talking studios being consolidated down into just a couple that can be used for multiple stations, like what’s been done in Cleveland?

The goal ultimately is to not have any local studio/office space remaining (it's not an FCC requirement anymore.) Moving everything to the cloud and a single centralized national facility where everything sent from home studios/offices around the nation is processed, scheduled and sent to according station servers is where we're at currently.

Next on the agenda; Destroy all humans.

Finally, when everybody realizes they've been listening to a glorified Speak & Spell with commercials and Dua Lipa songs, they may also realize they've been doing it on an object with nearly 100 year old tech (and sometimes, a blinking digital clock.) And just decide to upgrade it all.

Then, after another knock-down, drag-out fight for the ages with the music industry over streaming, the licenses will inevitably be sold/ turned in, the religious/right-wing loons will buy it all. And further down the spiral we go. (Or at least that's the current trajectory.)

In reality, that's not iHeart's current trend. They're adjusting the location of studios and offices to more modern needs that reduce expensive lease costs and improve efficiency. In most instances, they're replaced space used by housing technical gear, and built performance spaces. Cleveland is a great example of their new model: iHeart Media Cleveland announces it will move its offices downtown

I'm pretty well versed in the process, and you're right that more groups are taking advantage of cloud workflows. Ultimately to a radio group like iHeart benefits because of the ease of content creation and distribution that working in the cloud gives any content business. Discovery Networks started doing this model successfully about five years ago. From a facility standpoint, you no longer need rooms of racks housing and cooling power hungry servers, nor the capital expense of replacing them every five years.
Next on the agenda; Destroy all humans.
That's just paranoid and weird.

You mean like the rest of the world? Because last time I checked, stations in Europe and Latin America are doing just fine as a chain.

Hell, within the USA, the same is true of Puerto Rico. You can't be a successful station unless you cover the island with 2 or 3 sticks.

People complain when a Jubal or Bobby Bones takes over mornings, but they're mum when Jimmy Fallon is on every TV market in America...

And that has been working for decades.

Two won't do it. On FM, 3 or 4 needed. On AM, 4 or 5 or more, depending on the stations.

And TV has done that since Steve Allen in the 50's.

With breaking news available faster online than on the radio, the one thing that shows can do is present original content, like artist appearances and insider gossip. The morning crew in Fergus Falls has no access to that content... but a syndicated show out of NYC or LA does.

Almost all of SiriusXM’s DJ’s are outside of the office, sometimes across the country and it’s worked great for them.

I think Jimmy Fallon stinks as a late night host. Had to say it after his name was mentioned. :)
The name was used as a reference to how late night TV has been based on national shows, not local ones. And has been for 65 years.

If we said "Johnny Carson" or "David Letterman" or "Jay Leno" would you have been happier?

Scrolling through Facebook, and found this in my feed:

Hmmm...I might be reading into this too much, but it’s a theory as to what’s coming. (Plus, the timing with the palindrome date thing...)
Maybe I was right? ;-) We'll see. iHeart has flipped stations to country solely to clear Bobby Bones. iHeart can do the same with Alternative or a rock-type format to clear Woody from Alt 98.7 L.A.
