LP stations in Victoria still off the air

K290BC gets it's CP granted, raising power to 250 watts.

Completely off topic and not sure why this humored me, but if you look at the radio locator map for K280BC, and take a gander just to the east of Victoria, you'll see what appears to be a largely populated town named Inez. Note the lighter color depicting dense population. Got news for the radio locator folks...

Inez is 1,000 people at best. It's not even in the same ballpark as Victoria...geez, it's a hole in the wall named after a railroad worker's daughter. They named Telferner for the same employee. That concludes my useless information offering for the day.

We now return you to the discussion of unnecessary translators upgrading in Victoria County, already in progress..

Last night, during tropo, I heard K290BC 105.9 with Spanish music in north San Antonio. There were a lot of other stations coming in, but this is different as it's just a low-power translator (I did catch the liner mentioning La Ley).
This upgrade must be a pretty strong 250 watts! ;) And I noticed that K260CC 99.9 in north SA is now licensed, but can't get a trace of it at my location 15 miles away from the tower. I doubt it's been built or I would have heard it.

Here is a staticy copy of K290BC and KGGB's legal ID I recorded last night, Spanish and English mixed. I recorded this off of 105.9 which I got here in San Antonio again. http://sndup.net/4qvs

So 96.3 is being used as the primary station? I didn't catch that one last night, but that probably was because of KXXM's HD blocking it. I guess 96.3 might be on at low power though, or off altogether. They had a STA to go off-air back last year that was dismissed. http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1621035

I am hearing 105.9 again during tropo here in San Antonio.
