LPAM ? any new info?

Well I remember awhile back reading something about it. and was wanting more info

from what i remember the LPAM would be allowed 10 or 100 watts (dont remember) and 50ft tower/antenna and would be between 1620 - 1700 kc

did fcc trash the idea or is it in limbo?

Im not sure if AM needs that.
There are several AM Stations
That Transmit with only 100 Watts or so.
OR OR OR OR OR
Is this for Part 15? If it was id Mess my
Pants with joy ;D

I really wonder what the likelihood of LPAM happening really is? If the "big boys" thought AM with or without HD was viable they wouldn't be beating the idea of AM on FM translators to death, right?

LibertyNT:

If it happens it would most likely allow increasing the Part 15 power from 100 milliwatts (a tenth of a watt) to 1 watt.

So, don't mess in your pants, yet!

1 watt would make a huge difference for me. And I would be able to easily change just a few part values to do it.

Probably no changes to radiator height though... :-\

I would much rather see the power remain at 100 mw, but lift all restrictions on antenna height, grounding, etc.

Yes, there is likely to be a change or two coming to the Part 15 AM rules in the near future but this won't be one of them.

Do you know what these changes may be?

And how soon do you think they will come about?

Cee. Yes, I have a pretty good idea of what these changes will be (one or two that I know about) but I cannot say anything right now because they are not yet a certainty to happen. Still some fine tuning to be done. I can say this, it is not likely the FCC will ever approve unlicensed one watt AM radio unless the full power entities vacate the AM band for some other part of the radio spectrum. Whoever said the FCC is going to approve one watt Part 15 AM is off base with their assumption.

I hope it includes a 1 Watt Increase for Part 15 AM
And let Part 15 FM Actually Serve something other than
your yard....

It would be nice if the FCC adopted the Canadian FM specs which basically allow for 4 times the distance for a given field strength.
