LPFM 92.5 on in Fresno!

First heard Monday morning March 21. Sounding good with syndie Jazz program. Good signal at Clovis and Herndon. Congrats guys!!! whoever you may be. Give us something good. The jazz is not a bad start ;)

I heard it a good clean signal in Clovis, driving today only to Belmont and Fowler and Cedar and Teague all clear and good, are they legal, I mean do to 92.1 KOND a class B-1 only 20 miles away. they remind me of some of KFSR and the "Original"104.1 when it was Classical.

of course its legally licensed. waivers allows the close spacing. There had been a pirate on 92.5 sporadically that I've heard since moving to Clovis. It seemed to be around Bullard and Villa or Minnewawa. with about a 1/2 mile radius.

I have heard that pirate before occationally for years, It used to be around Peach and Gettysburg, then moved.
I can't found any info on the new station, TL, power or anything, that's why I wasn't sure it was legal.
Too bad KJOI 104.3 couldn't get a better frequency, seems 98.5 would qualify the same as 92.5, being the 98.3 Riverdale was cancelled, and will stay in Huron. 104.1 KFRR keeps that station signal limited to Biola.

I think KJOI with their format should relocate to a station like 105.5. We have enough hip-hop stations already in Fresno: 94.9, 97.1, 97.9, 103.7, 104.7, 105.5. Am I missing anything else?

Enough is enough wouldn't you say????!!!

Just saw the info on Radio-locator, KFGD 92.5, funny thing the signal I heard that I mention from Peach and Gettysburg years ago had a similar format, in the same area, interesting, but It had no talking, just music, a mix of Jazz, and Classical Music, but the signal was much weaker about a mile radius.

That one was practically in my backyard being that I live near the Catholic Church/Elementary school in OTC.
The one I was talking about was like 5-6 years ago when I worked near Peach and Shaw. the signal then went from Barstow to Dakota and Clovis Ave to Willow approx. but wasn't on all the time like Verne"s old pirate.

I Noticed the new station goes off at 3PM everyday, if this is going to be the norm, they should sublet the station at night, I know it's Non_Commercial but maybe someone would want to use it, perhaps play other old radio programs like Standards, Big Band era, Frank Sinatra, and beyond into early Rock.

The transmitter for 92.5 is at 215 West Dakota Avenue Clovis, California.

§73.850 Operating schedule.
(a) All LPFM stations will be licensed for unlimited time operation, except those stations operating under a time sharing agreement pursuant to §73.872.

(b) All LPFM stations are required to operate at least 36 hours per week, consisting of at least 5 hours of operation per day on at least 6 days of the week; however, stations licensed to educational institutions are not required to operate on Saturday or Sunday or to observe the minimum operating requirements during those days designated on the official school calendar as vacation or recess periods.

(c) All LPFM stations, including those meeting the requirements of paragraph (b) of this section, but which do not operate 12 hours per day each day of the year, will be required to share use of the frequency upon the grant of an appropriate application proposing such share time arrangement. Such applications must set forth the intent to share time and must be filed in the same manner as are applications for new stations. Such applications may be filed at any time after an LPFM station completes its third year of licensed operations. In cases where the licensee and the prospective licensee are unable to agree on time sharing, action on the application will be taken only in connection with a renewal application for the existing station filed on or after June 1, 2019. In order to be considered for this purpose, an application to share time must be filed no later than the deadline for filing petitions to deny the renewal application of the existing licensee.

DanielBoone Hip hop is popular here 4 of those stations are in the top 10, i still think 105.5 could have done something different.

I am not familiar with the station however, if it is shutting down each day at 3 in the afternoon, it may be mandated from the FCC. If two or more applicants were qualified equally for a LPFM and the only frequency available was this, stations are required to work out a schedule where they share time. If they cannot agree on a plan, the FCC will mandate a plan. Since each party might be in different stages of their plan to get on the air, they might not all sign on at the same time. That would leave one station signing off at the designated time without the other station broadcasting.

The other possibility is the station is still in their development stage. I knew of one LPFM that was live that would sign on and sign off after each volunteer's show before they managed to get enough volunteers to maintain a schedule. Sure a LPFM needs to operate a minimum hours a week unless a school where an option for silence when the school is not in session. The FCC usually allows a bit of a grace period for a new station to get to that point.

As I recall watching from afar, a station in Columbus, Ohio was doled out 3 to 8 in the afternoon/evening. Another LPFM that was on the same frequency in Columbus opted for 11 to 1 at midday. For a long time the frequency was used only between 11 and 1, then 3 to 8 each day. After the other groups had their Construction Permits expire, never hitting the airwaves, the FCC allowed the two broadcasters to share the 24 hours, each getting 12 hours each day. It took FCC permission to expand the hours of operation.

This station is not a time share station.

Has anyone noticed 105.5 sounds horrible lately? Contacted the station via e-mail. No response. High pitched squeal now, even in sight of the tower. I have found at least some value in last three formats (miss CBS sports radio the most) but now it is unlistenable.

Sorry to come in a bit late with this, but my understanding of LPFM rules is that the licensee cannot "sublet" the station during any unused hours. Only a timeshare (as described by b-turner) with another licensee is allowed, with FCC approval.

LPFMs are not like commercial stations that can be time brokered or LMA'd.

I think the formats 0n 105.5 before the last 3 were better, That 60s station, Smooth Jazz, and Classic Country, and speaking of the latter, RIP Merle Haggard.

Waddup Dawg! The reason for the lack of rock stations is because there is not that many old white guys (like you and me) left. Our culture is changing. I think when 97.5 KABX format changed, showed a sign of it BIG TIME!

Ken we're neighbors now. I used to be in Sunnyside … now in Old Town Clovis. You said you are by OLPH. I can walk there from here. Lets get together some time. Oh Ive done the cataract thing and Im still blind, but I get around. But thats a long story. Gimme an email add and we set up a meet.
