LPFM Loses major part of listenable signal....

Well, The effects of the move of WLME (now Lewisport, KY) to a tower between Hardinsburg, KY, Tell City, IN and Owensboro, KY has let 103.1 upgrade in Louisville, but has put an early LPFM in Evansville, IN in chaos.. When WLMW was a C3 and 20 miles further east...No problem.. But, as of today they are now a Class A with a tower that puts a 48 over the east city limits of Evansville (I-164) and they've lost a listenable signal in ALL OF NEWBURGH (30 to 40 thousand in the village and Ohio Township, total)...They are unlistenable on the southeast and south side of Evansville and get interference on the main travel drags on the east side and three miles north of the antenna (60dbu)... I have not checked on the far side of their antenna furthest away from WLME, but it does not look good.. Maybe their ENG can file (he a good one) for a STA to go to 102.5, as that was a competing application accepted in the first phase of LPFM filings a few years back.. The licensee got 102.7 over 102.5 because of time of existance of the non-profit applicant (Christian Fellowship Church).. They have a studio better than 80% of the Regent/South Central boards/control rooms and have put alot of money into it to be a part-localized WAY-FM affiliate...
What do you think they should do??? :-\

An "unintended" consequence of WIUXLP settling to get off of 100.3. The guys on 103.1 paid get WIUX off their frequency in Bloomington so the guy on 103.1 in Southern Indiana could move to to 102.9 so the guy in Columbus would move to fro, 102.9 to 100.3.
Lewisport was a part of the moves that WIUX had petitioned to deny.

Look at the WIUX thread on the Indiana board.

I know it was a part of the 'switch-e-roo'... I am glad WRKA Olides can have a more dominate signal in L'ville and 'LME is now more Owensboro based.. But, bad for WIUX and their effort to be a college community station... Bloomington is lucky to still have the "Firehouse", but it would be nice to still have the college kids on the LPFM... That's what it's for! On WCFY... Floyd Turner (ENG and elder at CFC) is looking at other possibilites with the third channel of 101.9 out of Central City as the critical (limited "C") and he is far enough south of 102.3 in Petersburg that he could move two miles south and possibly get 102.5 (which another group originally applied for in the beginning)... :)

Two miles is a lot for LPFM. Their 60 dbu service area is only a radius of 3.5 miles. The L in LPFM shoyuld stand for local, not low power.
