LPFM Update: WQJJ-LP Jasper adds streaming

• The Fox has added a webstream in 96kbps MP3 format, which is nice but requires broadband. :-( http://75.138.22.49:8000/listen.pls

• PirateJim's LPFM directory http://www.angelfire.com/nj2/piratejim/lpfm.html lists WUAC-103.3 in Tuscaloosa (one of the three sharetimers on that channel) as having recently gone on the air.

• The license for the never-built WXMT-Pelham has been revoked

• PJ also lists all of the LPFM's in Alabama as being in operation EXCEPT these: WFAN-97.9 Huntsville and WTCC-103.3 Tuscaloosa, both of which will air a satellite-fed Chinese Christian format. (WACM-94.3 in Auburn is listed as already being on air with this format.) Three other stations have not yet been assigned call letters and at this point seem highly unlikely to get on the air: 94.7-Scottsboro, 98.1-Decatur, 103.9-Bryant.

I dunno who's behind the station, but the bits I've heard when passing through Jasper were very interesting. Well done for a simple 'community' station!

It's nice to hear some secular music instead of the usual canned religious stuff that is taking over LPFM (just like it has taken over the translator world.)
