LPFMs in KC

Somewhat of a sad state.

KLHW-LP 90.5: Off-air for months at least.

KCPZ-LP 95.3: Off-air since July when they lost their transmitter site but have filed for a new one.

KNIU-LP 97.7: Off-air since early 2023.

KPPZ-LP 98.5: On-air with music but no IDs/announcements. I think it's connected to 95.3.

KONN-LP 100.1: Doing fine with a professional website, and on-air last I heard it. One Kansas City Radio | 100.1 FM | KONN

KOJH-LP 100.5: Off-air for over a year now. Website is still streaming. KOJH-LP 100.5 FM

Those two new ones on 102.7? Well, good luck to them...

You forgot the LPFM on 100.7, KCGG which is a Christian station called Radio Aliento. They broadcast in Spanish with 6 watts!

Thank you for staying on top of this. Sadly, lots of LPFMs got started and didn't have a plan to generate some cash for bills and emergencies. Also, many LPFMs have just one person with few volunteers. A few years on 24/7/365 takes it's toll, especially when th family wants a vacation, for example. You could file a complaint with the FCC and they'll want to see thigs like electric bills to prove you were on the air.
