LPFMs

Can some one on this board provide some information on Low Power FMs in the Dallas market. Are there some in the market already, will the FCC open up any new ones in the future, what kind of range do they have, etc? Thanks.

It's hard to say if an LPFM could be droped into DFW. The only remotely possible frequency might be 95.7, and that's second adjacent to KHYI-95.3 and first adjacent to 95.9's in Sulphur Springs and Mineral Wells. I'ts also on channel with Ardmore, OK. LPFM's are limited to 100 watts and 100 feet tower height max. Your coverage could improve by adding a translator (like KZQX did in east Texas, their main is something like 80 watts but their translator in Kilgore flame throws a might 250 watts). I'm in a suburban area that's ideal for an LPFM. I'd hate to hear the laughter from "M Street" if I ever even approached the subject!
