LPTV - Analog

It's been done, Mario. In Naples FL there is an analog Univision on 2....it's been seen *at least* from San Antonio TX & Shreveport LA. It may have even been seen in Canada!

LPTVs are possible during skip...but it's mostly Mexico and Canada that the DXers get. You have three years left-EVERY translator or LPTV in the United States has to switch to digital by 2015.

In the summer of 2009 I picked up WLFM 87.7/channel 6 from Chicago over my local Pulse 87.7 from NYC. While the smooth jazz was drowning out the dance music in the New York market, the dance music was surprising many smooth jazz listeners in Chicagoland.

It should be easy to get audio from an LPTV, especially channel 6. While full power analog VHF was the way we all got alerted to e-skip before 2009, there are other ways for us to be alerted to e-skip now which don't involve listening to an FM station that's usually static.

Yeah, That would be sad, Digital TV is overrated

I take care of WUVF-2 in Naples and I had no idea that that little signal had skipped like that! Of course, having that end of the band almost to yourself doesn't hurt...

I see WUVF time-to-time here in Pembroke Pines, when tropo goes well out to Naples. I get confused sometimes, because all my analog 2 catches (outside of Canada & XHRIO Fox 2 Matamoros) are Spanish. I have to switch to my local WLTV to see if it's the same program; when it matches, voila, WUVF.

During commercial breaks, I think I've seen a 239- phone number. That seals the deal too.

I'm still trying for the new 98.1 Marco; I might have heard it a week ago, but was not convinced. That Spanish WNUE packs a punch even when my antenna is pointed west.

In Naples around noon today listened to both an LPTV and a Frankenfm fight for 87.7 . Both were Spanish so I couldn't identify where they were.

No one anwsered my Question

How did KOTR-LP not interfere with KTVU before June 2009??

I don't know...is is possible that KOTR was using another channel until then?

Sure it was an LPTV? Cubavision in Havana uses ch 6/87.7. The other station had to have been Almavision in Miami.
