For some strange reason, Lt. Jim Stanley's voice showed up in my mind the past few weeks. Remember him? He did traffic at WLW with JFPO and Jim LaBarbara back when radio was a viable media form...before it started circling the drain as it is now. I know he's since past and his son runs a driving school he started. Anybody know when he passed away and the cause?

There's more. How about those guys on the old WCKY like Will Warren and the guy who did the car repair program "Bill's Car Care"? I think his name was something like "Bill Arnsparger".

My father, Lieut. Art Mehring started "You & the Law" on radio back in the mid-50's with Al Schottelkotte. This was before the WLW helicopter traffic reports. Lt.Stanley used to fill-in for my dad during vacations and later, when he became ill in 1968. He was a good man and always very cordial to my family. Growing up after my dad died my mother, sister and I always felt like we had an extended family with the men & women of the Cincinnati Police Department.
