Lubbock just got....

Yes, it's perfectly legal for the two translators to repeat the programming, assuming that the owners really are adhering to the requirements of "no association" or compensation, etc. from the originating station. Here's a link to the applicable rule (note that the relevant paragraphs are [d] and [e]): http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2009/octqtr/pdf/47cfr74.1232.pdf

This kind of thing is commonplace in some sparsely populated areas like rural Utah, where there are translators for Salt Lake City stations all around the state.

Wasn't there supposed to be something coming to 107.7? I could have sworn someone had a CP for that, one that expires rather soon, doesn't it? Still nothing there?

107.7 is an old, revived allocation for Idalou that went to auction and Ramar got it. The CP is still active, since it was approved just last October. When it hits the air the station will have solid city-grade coverage of Lubbock, despite having just 10.5kW; here's the pattern, showing the "service area" (60dBu contour): http://maps.google.com/?q=http://tr...MJ&freq=107.7&contour=60&city=IDALOU&state=TX

That's great. And is this going to happen any time soon? And when it does, will it be anything, or just another RAMAR simulcast of some existing station?
