My predictions would be as follows.....
#1. KFMX (let's face it, they dominate)
#2 & 3 The Bear & KLLL tie
#4. Z102
#5. Mix
#6. The Beat
#7. KOOL 98
#8. KFYO
#9. Magic 93
#10. Classic Rock or The Rebel
Is this prediction wishful thinking??? I don't feel that it is. There is a change in the air (no pun intended).
I feel that this book will show more of an exact read on how things really are within this market. The last book was crap for way to many reasons. Also, I think that people have finally noticed that there is something on the radio in the morning...that is TRULY local. Something that is entertaining/funny, music oriented and deals with local issues in every way possible. *Side Note: One of the things that I enjoyed about radio when I was growing up...was the fact that the jocks/shows that I listened to EVERYDAY...were funny, smart, blunt, sarcastic & locally oriented. However, I also listened to STERN when I was growing up. The thing I liked about STERN....wasn't the fact that he had celebs on...I loved it that you could listen in on the many different arguements etc...that were taking place on the show. He wasn't local and didn't talk about local things...however...he made me laugh. However, KRADDICK isn't either of those two things. He is not funny (which surprises me...you would think that as much money as he is bringing in....he would be able to get some funny ass writers. However, thats not the case.) Also, he is NOT local and CANNOT BE. If syndication was so successful...then companies like CC would not be selling off stations etc... Why would you sell off stations left and right...if you could make tons of money on "said" stations...by simply slapping syndicated programing on them. Syndicated programming as we know...is over. Yes, you will still have syndications in the BIG markets. However, in the smaller ones...I truly think that you are going to start seeing more and more stations going back to local programing in the MAIN DRIVE TIMES.
I could be totally wrong about all this....but I don't think I am.
