Lubbock Ratings

Check them out.

Kiss and FMX did VERY well this fall!

Not looking good over at Mix...After refreshing the format, numbers still tumbled from a 4.1 to a 3.2...tying Stars.

But did those numbers cover the new format entirely or did the other format overlap?
I honestly have no clue.

The format labels are wrong on a couple of the stations. We all know 105.3 is not "Adult hits" anymore. And why is KSTQ still listed down at the bottom? Those call letters don't even exist anymore.

So who's #1?....

The number 1 morning show 12+ is the Bones Show based out of Austin

Bobby Bones? Are you kidding?......... wow

Question now... does Mix attempt a field goal, go for it on 4th down, or punt?

Well I think it would be foolish of them to give up on their CHR format after only one book. They've got to give the format enough time to catch hold. Whether or not it will, I don't know, but I still think it deserves more than six months. In the 2 diary a year system Lubbock is stuck with it can't be easy for a station like Mix to change formats without changing names and it really catch hold.

Again, I'm not saying it will work, but if I were running the place I wouldn't give up on it yet.

When this change was first made, I suggested that they should have changed their name from Mix. I think this is more proof of that. It is true, you can not read much when you only have 2 books to go on. But I also think that keeping the name "Mix" would not be enough of a signal to people that the station was new or different. The ratings reflect that, because the ratings did not change much. They did not get new listeners, and the few they had did not notice or care enough about the change.

The format itself is right on. Local voices, solid tight jingle heavy New York'ish formatic. Time for a name change.

While I think content is more important than the name, I will agree that they did not do a good job making the format change noticeable. No new name, logo, or website or anything? When a station changes formats or even just simply relaunches, its a must to make the viewer notice that something is up. I guess that's why some stations "stunt" for a couple days.

With that said, Mix does need more time. If I'm not mistaking, I believe after Z102 changed to "Kiss," their numbers stayed the same or may have even gone down some for one book. Look at them now...they are on the way to coming up at the top.
