Lubbock's New Newsradio 1420???????

Lubbock has 3 (count'em) NewsTalkers!
I bet I'm late on this, but I found out today that the station that Jeff Walker is LMA'ing is on the air at 1420.
It's KJBL Lubbock.

And get this, they are the new CBS radio affiliate in Lubbock.
Jeff seems to be making money too, they had lots of local spots (more than I've heard at a certain other AM station).

Does anyone know more about 1420 and what the plans are for it's future?
Do they have a website?
-G.

-G,

First...it's Dave Walker. But, the problem I hear and this just may be me being a real fan of radio station imaging is: THERE IS NO IMAGING. I heard one promo that identifies the station 3 different ways. 1) NEWSRADIO AM 14-20, 2) NEWSRADIO 14-20AM, and 3) AM14-20, NEWSRADIO KJDL. Heck, during the Frenship games on Firday nights, one of the pbp guys actually called the station by the old calls of KLFB. I have listned at length to the station and heard no identifacation AT ALL. To make an impression, good or bad, a stations positioning and imaging is very important. Perception is reality in the listeners head...if you sound like you're nothing, then that is exactly what you are to the listener.

While driving around on Sunday and scanning the AM dial searching for any NFL action, I came across the station. I listened for a while and just assumed Dave Walker got his station up and running. I had no idea of the call letters, name, etc. Ron is right. Absolutely no imaging. Do they have any local programming? They are gonna need something pretty strong in that Saturday afternoon time slot from 5 to 7 since that's when the world famous Ron Grant show is on KFYO.

Oops, I knew that (duh...).
Typo, my apologies to Dave Walker (who I've worked with).

I agree. It sounds like the station is just a baby. I remember how 950 was at the begining. What they need is a big voice guy (pun entirely intended).

Stop it....stop it. I'm blushing.
