Bob and Teri Skurzewski have written a new book about the early history of rock music and rock radio in Buffalo during the 1950s and 1960s. This 360 page opus has been years in the making. It contains everything you ever wanted to know about Lucky Pierre, Perry Allen, Dick Biondi, Bob Wells and a bunch of others. Sounds like a good read to me. Lucky Pierre was one of the really good voices, unique to the market.

About a year ago, I tried looking up info on some of the DJ's I listened to growing up in Buffalo. On Youtube, Lucky is featured in a two segment piece on The Crossfader Show. Search Lucky Pierre Gonneau, and both parts pop to the top of the results screen. It's nice to hear him again, with that mild French lilt in his voice. Both together run about 22 minutes.

At 2:45 into the piece, there's an old WHLD poster shown with Lucky and 2 other personalities. One is the legendary Ramblin' Lou, and the other a guy named "Vanilla" (?) Miller. First time I heard that handle.
