LUCY ARTICLE (TV GUIDE PRINT THIS WEEK)

Lucy had her 100th birthday this year and the 60th anniversary of I Love Lucy.

TV Guide has an article this week where daughter Lucie Arnaz is interviewed.
Here are some tidbits from Lucie.

Desi Arnaz (the son) was pictured as an infant on the first TV Guide cover.

She was never in the show but Lucy was pregnant with her in the pilot episode.

Lucie's favorite episode is Lucy Takes A Trip To Havana (11/6/57). Lucy's two
favorite episodes were the one where she tell Ricky she was having a baby (12/8/52).
They (Desi/Lucy) both got so teary eyed they wanted to do the scene over, but
the staff said NO.

Lucky also liked where she was queen of the gypsies (The Operetta - 10/13/52).
Neither of those episodes would make the poster's top 30.

Lucy enjoyed working in TV and hated having to give it up. Lucie says, "I watched
her deteriorate emotionally." (when she lift TV).

She didn't cook very well but enjoyed being in the kitchen.

Lucy was "opinionated and professorial" off-camera.

Lucie enjoyed doing dance numbers with her mom on Here's Lucy (lasted 6 years).

Lucie says the writing and execution are what has kept I Love Lucy going for so long.

If Lucy were around today she would enjoy the antics of Ellen DeGeneres, Debra
Messing and Tina Fey.

As unrelated edition, I read that Lucille's favourite episode of "The Lucy Show," is the one with her and guest star Dean Martin

I did love The Operetta episode. I mean like, King Sir Lancelot, I love to sing and dance a lot. That alone is worth the episode. Plus you can hear Vivian can really hit those high notes. In later episodes Ethel's singing ability would vary depending on the plot device.

I tended to like the more mundane simple episode, like when Lucy and Ethel went into the salad dressing business, or when the girls feel neglected because the boys are watching the fights.

I would agree that Lucy would like Debra Messing, who seems to take her physical comedy moves from Lucy. Makes you wonder could there ever be a show like I Love Lucy and a TV actress like Lucille Ball.
