Luis Jiménez Signs With Univision Radio

By Jackie Madrigal

A source who wishes to remain anonymous told R&R that Luis Jimenéz, host of New York's No. 1 morning show, "El Vacilón de la Mañana," on SBS’s WSKQ, has signed with Univision Radio. Jiménez’s contract with SBS is over at the end of 2006.

No word on whether Jiménez’s sidekick Moonshadow will join him in his new venture, but the other show members -- Tony "El Tiburón" Sánchez, Noel "Boca Chula" Hernández, Francis Méndez, Aneudis "DJ Chucky" Rosado, Leo "Papi Chulo" Amador, Jerpis "El Chino" Correa and Deibi "Shorty" Pérez -- have reportedly signed to continue on at SBS.

Jiménez is said to feel "betrayed" that his morning show team signed with SBS, but is also "pumped and excited" about his new show and a new beginning.

Geez, what was this guy asking for that SBS didn't retain him? Was being #1 in the mornings not good enough for them?

I saw this in allaccess today and since I dont speak espanol I dont listen to this guy. Is he any good?. Jesus since when does Bob Eatman handle bi lingual jocks too? that guy is chasing every peso on the table huh?!.

Luis Jimenez is the man in NYC and Puerto Rico... it looks like Univision was willing to pay him more than SBS. Or Luis might be looking to do something on his own and boost La Calle's ratings a bit... Either way this is huge!!!!!

X ;D

From And one thing is for certain: Howard Stern can't keep up with them. New York's leading Spanish radio show beat Stern's blunt sex talk in Arbitron ratings in 2003 and 2004.
