Lunch at Cap's 3/15 - Check In Now

Phone rings...

Scoot: Hello
Caller: Will Barbara be there?
Scoot: Barbara who?
Caller: Barbarabooey!!! Barbarabooey!!!

It never gets old! 8)

Seriously, where is Scoot working these days?

Cap tells me Scoot now lives in Denver, where he runs his own PR firm.

Just checking in. I'm still gonna be there, but I'm waiting on a definite word from my friend who would like to attend.

Dolph, who is in the shirt screening business, offered to make some t-shirts for the attendees with logos of the stations from back then. We didn't have luck finding any though.

BTW,
I have 1982 or 1983 B-97 logo I would like put on a shirt! For personal use, of course. But if others want one, that's fine. Is it possible?

It's an early 80's logo, with the Bee standing with one foot on One Shell Square and the other on the Crescent City Connection (GNO back then). He's got a guitar in his arms and he's rockin out the Crescent City! It's on a denim material-like bag my father got me in a parade back then. It doesn't have a copyright or trademark symbol, so it's good to go!!!

We just mised having C.C. Courtney attend:

"By the way, I hoped to be able to make it to Cap's for the radio thing, but I was booked here at SXSW to conduct a seminar to help actors act and young directors work better with actors." (It's in Austin thru this weekend).

Would have been nice to have him with us. But Austin's just a hop, skip and a jump away by air, so who knows...?

What time are y'all going to meet? Noonish? I'm bringing my camera, I'm an amateur pornographer - I mean photographer - so if anyone does not want their picture taken let me know before I get ya on film and plastered all over the internet. ;)

Those of you who missed it missed a classic with Soxless Scott Segraves, "Scoot" Scott Paisant, and Kim Stephens fresh off of triple by-pass surgery. Pix to follow!

That was a good time but I forgot and left without my quarter piece of Muffaletta that I was bringing home for my wife.

DOH!

To All Attendees: Yesterday was truly one of the best days I've had since I returned after Katrina. I anticipated it, and when the event happened, it was better than I thought it would ever be. I love every one of you who came. It was historic, in the fact that it was the biggest gathering of New Orleans Radio Stars ever --- BC --- BEFORE CORPORATIONS showed up and killed radio. The room was chocked full of more talent than those corporations have presented since they bought "the farm". From Soxless, who arrived early and sunbathed and read in my parking lot, shirtless, to Scoot, who was so delightful and all of you in between. I got a chill just writing this thank you --- it mean it so much to me. Long Jim White and samBo would have been there, but they had station duties. My Lawd, how did a medium that had that much talent let it all go and think that they could make it. I now have satellite radio and more importantly, cds that I have made, because I just couldn't stand most of it anymore. If you were there, history was made and if you weren't, talk to someone who was there. Thank you all, for being my friends and The Captain has reticently left the gathering.

To da Cap, and your off-the-freakin'-chain Krewe of Too Damn Tasty ... thanks for the hall, and the helluva time it held.
To all you crazies I've thought about so many times over the years -- and some of whom I've even stayed somewhat in touch with -- just spending time with you, was like going back and re-coloring old black&whites in my memories. Only bad part was having to part ways again. But I've already had Weerd word that another one's being worked on for late this year. And this time, let's all burn extra incense (or whatever that stuff was--and where the hell DID we put the map to BaskinRobbins?) so The Gods of Attendance will bless us with Skinny Tom, an even more recuperated KimToad (and his always lovely child bride),
Sambo and Funky Jim Whiteboy, C-C Courtney, Blair, Harold for whom they named The Mann Act, and a Bob Robin exclusive--Don McGregor. And Walter, Doug C, Scoot, Tom C, Scottie Mac, Allan Beebe and The Oldies King wouldn't dare George their Joneses and pull a no-show... damn!!! just thinking about it, makes me wonder why I wasted the gas driving back up here.
Soxless.

Kreg and I have vowed to fly your suntanning Kudzooter behind down here if need be for the fall gathering...we need more sales folk, we need Warren "With Ya," 'da Pal, Tommy B., and so many more! Ho-Z is a must attend next time as well...Oldie King you done good organ-imizing this one as well!

Scooter B., truly an honor again sir to be graced with your presence...made me feel like a 21-year old pup again on Bienville Street...kudos again to Cap and his fantastic krewe that truly worked double time for our crazy butts...here's to the next one gang!

On this St. Patty's Day I sign off as Weerd O'Bro...

Kim Stevens had such a good time that he has already told me to sign him up for the next one!

Hmmm...Labor Day is Monday, September 1. Maybe we can at least narrow it down to maybe either Saturday September 6 or the 13th, whatcha think? Maybe the Saints will have a home game the next day for our out of town visitors to enjoy.

Bob
