Lunch At Cap's On Friday 6/1/07 - Be There!

I'm breaking up? You're in the sticks, redneck. Buy a new cell phone! And oh yeah, Cherie is heading over from Mandeville. And if you're reading this stuff, where ya at Skinny Tom!

I'm like (censored because radio-info thinks we are calling him names:) wayne and asking how was it?

RFLA

Dammit Radio-Info...nobody is calling me names! I've been WEERD Wayne since 1977 at WNOE...that's 30 years! It's OK for people to call me W E E R D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne,

We didn't edit any post for calling you "Weerd". RFLA is having a bit of fun at our expense. Had his post been edited, it would be in red script. It would also give a time and date stamp at the bottom of the post with the name of the administrator who engaged in said edit.

We've made this mistake before but in regard to this one...we're not guilty. We never touched it.

Lunch At Cap's On Friday 6/1/07 - Re"Cap"

What a great lunch at Cap's. Attending were:

Blair On The Air
Bob Robin
Cherie The Oldies Sweetheart
Don Banks
Captain Humble
Bob Walker

plus
Tom Courtney, long-time radio engineer
Jeremy, who posts on the Radio-Info board and wanted to meet the gang, and it was a pleasure meeting him as well.

We had a terrific 3-hour lunch and the stories old and new were flying the entire time. This was a classic event that everyone enjoyed thoroughly.

Next time Times-Picayune columnist Angus Lind said he'd like to come along too, but he was out of town this Friday.

It was "radio from 1960-today" with the years of radio experience of the folks in attendance. Ya shoulda been there! Maybe we'll do it again sometime.

And thanks to the Board Moderator for allowing us to share this fun event with all.

Yes I apologize to WEERD and the board, and yes I was kind of having fun as I didn't think to use WEERD to bypass the name calling filter... But glad you all had fun, unfortuneately others also have to work and being 80+ miles from Slidell doesn't help either.

Oldie King, wish i could have made it.Had planned on it.what a great roundtable discussion.
Remember when i locked myself out at TIX and you had to come down to open the door?i was playing Hey Jude and you got the job done before the song ended..Now i must confess it was ME that put the stuff in the coffee that gave everybody the runs...really intended it for ole Freb B (RIP) .maybe i can make the next one, would have loved to been the fly on that wall..I want everyone to know Bob Walker was a blast to work with and be around..Ray Fisher

Also Wayne, when I wrote it I thought it was spelled Weird at the time I wrote the original post.. My apolgies

That's funny. Oldie King, let's try to shoot for a Saturday next time, I'll be able to drive over...and we can get the Pal and other quality folk to join us...

You're right, Wayne. We'll look at a Saturday at Cap's for the next one.

I think we could get all the participants from yesterday's lunch again, and probably add you and your crew, Pal Al, Kim Diamond, Allen Beebe, even Let's Talk It Over's Joe Culotta, who lives in Slidell and wanted to make this one, among others. Culotta could have made it on Saturday too. Maybe we can lure Skinny Tommy this time and late 60's All-Night TIX-o'lette Ray Fisher from the hills of Mississippi. I think it also would be a good day for Angus Lind from the Times Picayune. A good handfull of other radio and recording folk are out there too (Bob Robin knows them all), so you never know who we might end up with. What a day of debauchery on the horizon at some point a few weeks down the road.

It was a real pleasure to meet all of you folks and see ones (Blair) who I haven't seen since my 4 1/2-year stint at Entercom!!! Thank you a million for lunch, as well! It was very delicious!

I have a deep appreciation for you all who made radio what it was. I just wish it was still that way today! Again, thank you so much!

Jeremy

Jeremy...email bounced back from your aol address. Did I write it down wrong? Do you want that picture?

Yeah, definitely! Sorry 'bout that Blair... I dunno what's goin on. Try it again: [email protected]. Let me know if it's still givin you trouble.

Oh and Bob... tell T-Ben he needs to get himself on here!!! It'd be great to talk to him and my uncle would be delighted to hear from him!

Hey guys!

I just got back from my trip to the Smoky Mountains. For those that weren't there I left directly from the restaurant for Tennessee.

Yep, that was a fun time! It was great to meet Jeremy, Bob Robin and great to see Cherie again.

We gotta get Pal Al, Weerdo and all the others next time. Maybe even Teen Angel hisself, Todd Bauer!

Hey Skinny... if I can leave lunch for Tennessee you can surely leave Tennessee for lunch!

Welcome back, Don!

Todd Bauer had enough of N.O. about a year ago (there's a story there) and moved to the San Antonio area. I hated to see him go but maybe he still has interests in this area and we might be able to lure him (and Skinny??) to another lunch at Cap's.

Too soon now, but I'd estimate a Saturday somewhere between the 4th of July and Labor Day. We'll all vote on a date later.

Bob
