M*A*S*H Comes to KDOC

Spring is here, and KDOC is doing some rather major cleaning. The long-running Korean War based comedy/drama is a huge add for them, and their first dealing with 20th Century Fox TV (hopefully not the last.....I'm thinking Lost in Space, Batman).

M*A*S*H begins its KDOC run Monday 3/23 from 6-7pm. It's part of a solid 12-hour "Endless Classics" programming block (11am-11pm) Magnum P.I. returns to the schedule at 3pm, a second hour of America's Funniest Home Videos airs at 4pm, and Cheers will move to 9pm to make way for M*A*S*H. Get Smart gets put on the shelf.

The station's now disasterious court-show block will play out the rest of the season at some rather odd times: the now cancelled Judge Karen at 6am and 10:30am; the (ahem) Best of Judge Hattchet at 6:30am and 10am.

And let's not forget McHales Navy from 3-4am :p

Now if they could just ween themselves off all those weekend infomercial hours. Guess they're waiting for KPXN/ION to go first.

i'm jealous... ;D even with "TV Land", i wish some NY tv station would do a 12-hour "Endless Classics" block - adding "Batman", of course... :)

"Batgirl" (HOLY cow!! :))

Very late correction: At 20th TV's request, M*A*S*H was bumped up an hour 5-6pm, so the only changes to the KDOC Schedule are now between 3-6pm:

3pm Magnum P.I.
4pm Hogan's Heroes
5pm M*A*S*H

And it's Matlock being put on the shelf. The original plan was to run one episode of Get Smart at 9:30am on weekdays.

Good move for KDOC getting M*A*S*H...I saw that the show gradually disappeared from KTTV (and KCOP) after 25+ years. M*A*S*H is getting more run than I've never seen in quite some time...Hallmark Channel, TV Land, and Ion (local KPXN). In fact, KDOC's run will air just before KPXN's...two hours of Hawkeye and the 4077th gang every weeknight.

I do agree with RadioFanBoy with scheduling more of these shelved shows on weekends. They could do a 3-7pm block on weekends consisting of Get Smart, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, or whatever they want to broadcast. Just a thought.

That probably explains why Fox wanted KDOC to move their airings - airing opposite KPXN's run? Good thing someone noticed that right away!

One show also getting a lot of mileage on cable is "Married... with Children". It runs on both TBS and Spike TV at various times. I wouldn't be surprised to see this show on KDOC's schedule in about ten years... (Does KTTV still air M w/ C?)

KTTV airs Married With Children each weekday at 2:30 PM. It also airs occasionally on weekends on both KTTV and KCOP.

I hope KDOC adds more shows because I think at this point their programs vs. infomercials ratio is near neck-and-neck per week. Tonight I saw some show called Unsigned Rock TV, and thought "What's this doing on the "endless classics" channel?" until I realized it's a brokered program.
