In listening to music on WWFD on my way into work, it sounds every bit as good, if not better than 75% of the FM stations playing music. The advantage is audio signal to noise is better on AM-HD than analog FM. Band noise floor isn't as much of a problem in MA3 mode. It's overpasses, high voltage power lines, and hybrid buses that create total loss of audio until you pass by.
Kelly, any idea if WWFD's full digital broadcast is affected by lightning strikes? My guess is the effects of lightning on the audio would be greatly reduced compared to regular AM.

Static due to a lightning strike overrides the digital stream just as it does for analog modulation.
The difference is that the radio will go silent until the receiver can re-establish a lock on the digital stream.
