Mack Berry the original host of Country Gold Saturday Night on Kicks passed away yesterday. I was so sorry to hear this today while I was at the station. I worked and knew Mack from my first day at Kicks March 26 of 1988. He really loved doing Country Gold. Services will be Tues. 2/2/10 at 11am. Living Way in Stockbridge on HWY 155. He was only 58

Mack was the consummate Country Gold host and did the job extremely well for over 13 years. Randy Blake and Rob Lee did a good job, but for me Mack will always be Country Gold. I can still hear his signature line “Here till midnight playing the best in country gold”. And often at the end of the show (for amlover) “Al Hardee’s comin' up next”. Mack occasionally closed the show with Gene Watson’s Farewell Party – farewell Mack, rest in peace.
