Mack VS. Julian

Julian is a FAR better jock than Mack. Mack doesn't deserve to be in Chicago, period.

Jeffro

I'll vote early and ofter for Jeffrey T Mason....he NEEDS to be in Chicago now more than ever...SAVE THE NIGHT TIME JEFFRO!!!!

BWT- He is doing nights on a country station in Florida

I think Jeffro is a good jock, but don't think his style works on the CHR of today. His talent is much more suited to Hot AC or Country. I can't see him doing nights (or even afternoons) on Kiss or B96. But like Java, he's far more worthy of a gig in Chicago radio than many of the jocks on B and Kiss, that's for sure. As for Mack, don't get me wrong...he's not a bad jock. He's just not very good. LOL!

Thanks for the props! I used to agree with that analogy, too. I had thought CHR was drifting further and further away from my "thing." But, when I returned (after 5 years) to CHR at WNOU/Indy in 2004, my PD set me straight. Even *I* had doubted my ability to connect with the current CHR audience. But, as it turned out, we still clicked. Just b/c most PD's want to get the MTV style jocks on with nothing more to say than reality tv updates/street lingo/hipper than the room stuff...true personality radio STILL works! Even with these kids! PD's just want a different image generally, and won't take the chance on "radio people."

I'm the first person to tell you I am NOT "street." I was raised on, and schooled by the CHR performers of the 80's. (Larger than life, reverb on the mic, hitting the post EVERY SINGLE TIME, punchline radio.) Some may call it hokey, but believe it or not, it still can work - IF you include relatable content. I am doing country these days, and frankly, am considered a bit TOO edgy for the format. So, I pull back. I'm still me, though. Ole' sarcastic one-liner Jeffro. Hey, the paychecks don't bounce. Yee-haw!
