Macon's very first TV station was WETV, UHF channel 47. It broadcast from a building on Pio Nono Avenue, next to K-mart,.....the brick building that later was Pet Diary.
They changed call letters to WOKA, and then to WNEX (one of their owners).
A friend recently opened the old shop of WBML's Chief Engineer, Stubby Wilder, who has been gone for about 40 years. Inside, among other treasures, were the service manuals for that original RCA UHF TV Transmitter, still in brand new condition. Stubby was their first engineer.

on page 112, Mr. English might find this note about SLC station ch. 4 KDYL-TV interesting: they applied to boost power by a whopping 50%, from 0.004 kW visual to 0.006 kW. Station will provide aluminum hats upon request to accommodate those concerned with precipitous power increase.

And on page 92, the Weekly Television Summary shows what I think was the only pre-freeze station that was to later go dark, WDEL-TV 7, later 12 Wilmington, Del.

I didn't know KDYL-TV or WDEL-TV ever covered Macon.

Thanks for the tidbit on WETV/channel 47, I wasn't aware of that. Living in Macon, we lived a few blocks up from WNEX's studio and transmitter.
