Macon Radio Reunion 2

Last year when Hamp Swain (King Bee) was inducted in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, we celebrated the occasion with "Hamp's Hop" - an old-fashioned record hop, radio reunion, benefit for the hall of fame's MIKE (Music In Kid's Education) program. The event was a huge success and former WIBB jocks like Satellite Papa, Mighty Rock, Laughing Lafayette, Big George, Queen Bee, Honey Bee, Party Doll, and of course the King, himself, all showed up and worked the crowd, just like they did back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. (If I've left off anyone, please forgive me). A few people from other stations also showed up to honor Hamp. This was supposed to be a one-time event. Problem is, it worked so well there were people turned away at the door who couldn't get in. And those who came have been calling the hall of fame consistently for a year asking, "When are ya'll going to do this again?" So, the 2nd annual benefit record-hop for MIKE, with Hamp Swain and friends is set for Friday, October 23, from 7-10pm, at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in downtown Macon. We would like to see this turn into an even bigger Macon radio reunion, and include as many former Macon DJ's from the 50's - 70's as we can find. If anyone is interested, or knows the whereabouts of former WNEX, WBML, WMAZ and WIBB DJ's, please have them contact Ben Sandifer at 478-474-4366, or [email protected]
