Macon Telegraph in partnership with local tv/radio

The Macon Telegraph is entering into a partnership with local TV station WGXA and WMAC Radio. This is a further blow to Register Communications, which dumped the ABC affiliation on
WPGA-TV at the end of 2009. Register had been simulcasting the Kenny B and Charles Richardson morning drive program on TV and radio. The partnership means a return of the to WMAC's airwaves after several years absence:

This will still leave a gap in radio commentary. We have two "talking heads" who just make commentary without making anyone really mad. Chris Krok had a following because he didn't pull punches and dug up news stories. Jeff Scott would have done the same thing but WMAC decided to let the Telegraph do the journalism along with the second-rate WGXA-TV. I am leery of three media outlets gathering together as it eliminates checks and balances but that is another matter.

Solutions: 1) Though the Aloha Trust will take on of the "Peach" stations out I would see where either ClearChannel's 102.5 or 96.5 would be an FM talker with a real local morning host who will practice journalism as well as commentary. 2) Lowell Register will find someone to replace Kenny and Charles unless he is (expected) el cheapo and go with syndicated programming. 3)A station not owned by any major player such as WBML will change formats. WBML might be a safe bet as we have quite a few gospel stations as it is. Why just keep the lights on at the pretty building on Riverside?

The pretty building on (847) Riverside Drive was torn down years ago. WBML moved to an old cement block house on (735) Reese Street (the old WCRY-AM transmitter, where no one would go after dark) back in the late 1970's, when Jack Tyken owned it and traded frequencies.

Kenglish I can't believe I shot my credibility down again! I passed by that building tons of times in the early 80s on the way to the Krystal for breakfast . Little did I know it wasn't WBML anymore.

In '76 the Reese St area was a dunghill. I used to zip through there when I worked for my Dad on the east side of Bibb. If WBML could pay more rent it'd be best to move all but the stick to a good area. Of course a WBML version of Chris Krok would cause some nearby vandal to trash the transmitter.
