MADDEN PARKS THE CRUISER..

Madden signed on for every game this season. Scully, Lanny Frattare of Pittsburgh and others signed on for x amount of games at home or close to it. Thats cool. Ebersol merely fell on his sword to take the heat off John..

One commentary from the local wrap..

Well, that makes two people who need to find something more significant to complain about.

It's a big deal...but then again, it isn't. John Madden wasn't going to make that dog of a game this past Sunday any more enjoyable.

This was the lowest rated Sunday Night Football game on NBC ever.

Probably mostly due to the matchup, but one has to wonder how much of the lack of Madden played a role, too.

Cris Collingsworth does a good job. Madden will be tough to replace, but I would think Cris is a leading candidate to replace him when he retires (if there isn't an under the table deal already).
