Madonna in 2012

Maybe Hot AC will give it a chance? 4 Minutes with Justin Timberlake did okay but I agree with RadRadio23 it will be played in clubs.

I agree Madonna is capable of producing hits, but it's hard to compare this track to "Believe" in 1999. That was a much better song. I just don't see this track making the rounds for very long.

Its been like that for years. Music and Dont Tell Me were her last big hits on CHR and Hot AC radio. I hear more of her 80's and early 90's music on stations today than the newer stuff Madonna released.

The newest song from Madonna I ever hear is "Like A Prayer" which was from what, 1990?

"Take A Bow" used to get some AC airplay, but I haven't heard it in years.

She had a few hits during the '00s. Time Goes By and 4 Minutes are two that I really remember.

Yeah, but none of her stuff since "Like A Prayer"(?) has really had true staying power on any format - her 90s and 00s hits were a lot more disposable, I guess.

Well, there is "Vogue," but that's from 1990. ("Like a Prayer" was 1989, BTW.)

"Hung Up" and "4 Minutes" seemed to me to be more sales-based hits. The former got attention because it was an ABBA sample, the latter because Justin Timberlake was on it. "4 Minutes" was one of the few Madonna songs I actually hate - though not as much as her Britney duet "Me Against the Music." Even "Glee" did a better job with "4 Minutes" than Madonna did herself.

"Take a Bow" was Madonna's biggest hit in terms of chart positions (7 weeks at #1 Hot 100) but it also peaked when CHR was in one of its doldrum periods and a lot of stations were dropping the format. That may be why it seems not to be one of her more memorable hits; plus, it's a ballad, and even AC is getting away from those.

I guess it will get some form of good play numbers since it seems that this is another one of those tracks that are receiving hourly play on all ClearChannel Chr's, regardless of whether or not they lean pop or rhythmic.

Does anyone know how these spins get reported to Mediabase? If all the Clear Channel CHRs are playing it hourly you'd think this concentrated effort would at least break the top 50.

Top 50? It's already #26!! Just 46 hours after the release. Clear Channel stations are 40 spins in. First non-Clear Channel is KAMP at 21 spins.

Spins by owner
Clear Channel 1817
Cumulus 155
Entercom 32
CBS 31

Ahhh, ain't it great when corporate dictates your playlist?

This song is a GIANT TURD. Total stiff. And it's being shoved down listeners throats every 60 minutes.

What's funny is that Tucson, Az. has two ClearChannel owned chr's. One is rhythmic, the other is top 40. They are BOTH playing it hourly all weekend. Tucson is just one small town. I wonder how many other cities have two ClearChannel chr's.

The halftime show was simply AMAZING!!! :-*

it came off as an overerly elaberate dance performance that had to be lip-synched so they could do the movements right.

it would have been better with less dance and with real singing. not as slick but it would have had more heart.the singing had too much of a monotone.no life in the singing to match the excessive stage activity.
