Madonna "Sorry"

Honestly

I actually hope it doesn't get big here. I find the song quite annoying, and what's even more annoying is that every CHR in Europe is playing it like every single hour. Sorry (no pun intended), I think this is even worse than "Music", and definitely not one of the material girl's finest works to date.

It might be a bad song, but it is a dance song getting radio play in the US

You want to hear a horrible dance song? Try Cascada's "Everytime We Touch"

I hope "Sorry" becomes a hit, but I doubt it.

Sorry is one of the best songs on her album. Hope it grows. Totally agree on that Cascada comment. Enough of the washed up cheezy hard trance sound. That doesnt represent dance music today.

Re: AGREED!!!!

Hey, it's Madonna. I guess some people just dont like here songs. I think Sorry is quite decent.
______________

Re: Honestly

I don't quite get that mentality.
Yea, we want dance to become popular again, but is there really a need to get excited over a song breaking through if you think it's terrible?
It's kind of like saying "Man, that Firewall movie really sucked, but at least Harrison Ford is still making movies"***

***I have not seen Firewall, just used it as an example.

Because you dance to disco but you still like rock.

Re: You may not agree but the people have spoken :)

I applaud their success but the way I see it, when listeners are only offered one dance song, they take what they get.

Not to take away from their and your companies success on the record. Congratulations.

I actually like the song, it was just a response to someone not liking it.

Re: Honestly

I didn't mean you specifically, I was responding to that mentality in general terms.

Re: You may not agree but the people have spoken :)

Thanks. Let me ask this then, in your opinion, what other "dance" record do you think that Top 40 Radio should be playing and why should they be playing it? Maybe we should spin this into a different thread.

If you're asking that question, you shouldn't even be posting on this board.

Thank You

I've been a Dance fan pretty much ever since I started listening to music, and I've been a fan of some of Madonna's previous offerings. I have nothing but respect for Madonna for being able to change with the times, and showing no signs of slowing down after being in the biz for two and a half decades now.

At the same time, I see nothing wrong with, from time to time, sharing my honest feelings about a certain record. I didn't bash the artist, but rather mentioned that for me personally the song got annoying real fast.

If you want to hear a TRULY horrible song by an artist whom I have no problem bashing, then just listen to a non-Dance record by Trina called "Here We Go". Yeah, yeah I know it's getting airplay on a lot of CHRs, but personally I view Trina as nothing more then a cheap (BLEEP)/hooker wanna-be who can't rap at all. Her voice is annoying, her lyrics are super weak (the second verse goes something like blah blah blah, I kid you not!). The only good thing about the song is the chorus.
It's a classic example of proper PR, combined with appealing to the lowest possible denominator.

Why? It's a fair question and rebuttal for the previous poster's comments.
This board is full of intelligent people who also happen to be fans of Dance music, so maybe (just maybe) their input happens to be valued by people like John Parker.

What other dance record (not plural) and why? Does there need to be an excuse to play a good song (or songs)? I don't see hip/hop listeners being asked what SONG should be played and why. This thread is a big joke just like the execs in radio now.

I agree. John does pose a good question there.

Re: You may not agree but the people have spoken :)

I can think of two off the top of my head.

Bob Sinclair - Love Generation.
Sure it's gotten old to us, but I think it's a great song.
Top 40 audiences may think it's too "cheesy" though.

Scent - Up & Down
Another really good one.

To the best of my knowledge, they are both original songs with no samples.
If they are covers or do have samples, they certaintly aren't obvious classics that people identify with.
And to me, neither have the cheese factor that you get with some of the covers out there.

Re: You may not agree but the people have spoken :)

Ok guys, I guess I'll just run off and post this somewhere else because 2Son said that I shouldn't be posting here. :)

OK back to the real world. Correct I said, Record and the reason you or anyone else feels that it belongs on TOP 40 radio. Pretty simple.

You can go first.

Follow The Yellow Brick road

May I refer you all to the "dance currents" discussion over on the New York City board, if you'd really like your hair and toenails to curl.
...by the way, I'm currently beating the hell out of Madonna over on WMPH's "Total Control Radio" 'election'.!SORRY!
