Maestro data stream question

Anyone out there using Maestro (Computer Concepts) version 3.1 or 3.3 and able to send data from the serial port that changes with each item (song, spot) instead of getting a "countdown" (one line per second) of data?? We need to strip out the repetitive resending of data once per second and only send the data when it changes. Song to song, etc. If there is an aftermarket workaround I'd be interested in knowing about that too. Thanks!

Have you checked with Rich Habadenk at www.dcstools.com ?
Great guy and knows Maestro in and out as well as DCS.
Just a thought.

Hi Jack!

Actually, you got your system right after we did our upgrade here! (I remember Dave telling me he was headed your way!)

At any rate, I use a widely available commercial package for sending data from Maestro to our RDS encoder and our website for "Now Playing". Our Maestro's do the same thing (with the countdown). The software filters only look for changes in cart numbers, so it doesn't affect our "Now Playing" on the website or the RDS information.

I'll need to check - I don't know if there is a way in Maestro to turn it off. I know that it didn't "count down" in V2.x, but it hadn't concerned me since it had no effect on our software.
______________

Thanks. I'd love to know what that package is. Is it Arctic Palm
or something smaller---just for stripping data? Thanks again!!

Thank you, Lane. That is a great idea. I know Rich from the old
days when Maestro was just DCS!

Side note

Anyone want to buy some Maestro 3 sound cards? Just upgraded to SS-32. I could find out if the bean counters want to part with them, hell, they are of no use to us now.

While something like that will work, I'm using The Radio Experience (TRE), now owned by Broadcast Electronics. The next step in a few weeks is integrating that with more software for PAD data for IBOC radios.

At any rate, I'm going to do a bit of research. I'm thinking that there is a way to "stop" the countdown through the serial port...I just didn't look very hard for it! :)
______________

Are they the old Computer Concepts cards? They are worth big $$$, since they aren't made anymore. Check out dcstools.com.
______________

Re: Side note

I did inquire with the powers to be whether or not they wanted to sell them and was promptly shot down. They are the old DCS cards and I know all to well what they are worth as we lost a few recently. Who knows why they want to hold onto these damn things, they are of no use to us what so ever. It fries my a$$ knowing we could help out another station and make a few bucks for the engineering budget at the same time. Same reason why I have ITC cart decks and mono chrome monitors in the basement. Yea, that stuff is gonna make a comeback!

FYI...Liquid Compass has a workaround for this problem now and can
handle stripping out the necessart data for the now playing info.
This applies to streaming issues with that company only. RDS will
still require a "fix" from Rich Habedank's company at this point.
Maestro (dMarc) will be releasing a new version soon which may
clear up this problem. Thanks again for all who responded to my
original post.
