Magic 106.7 edits

I listen to Magic 106.7 quite a bit, and I have noticed that there are some songs that they edit, and sometimes they do a terrible job. A big example is Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful." The edit happens during the bridge. Right in the middle of the bridge, they go to the refrain. It sounds almost as if the CD skipped. Another song they edit is "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith. It also happens during the bridge, and they edit out the "Yeah yeah yeah yeah YEAH!!!!!!!" part. And there are other songs they edit, but those are the 2 that I find most annoying. Does anyone else notice how they edit songs?

They may have the ability to edit to some small degree. However, as has been pointed out before, WMJX probably does not "edit" these songs themselves, rather chooses versions (tracks, cuts), that they feel are, for a vareity of reason, (rap free, softer mix, shorter) more appropriate for an Adult or Soft music demographic. I used to get CD's that had several versions of the same song. For example, one version of Alanis's "Uninvited" ends with a cold ending, while track 02 ends with a dramatic fade out.

It is also not uncommon for an Adult Contemporary, (or in fact any) station to pick and choose from the versions it wants.

WMJX has to be doing their own custom edits of songs. Record companies would never put out stuff that sounded this bad. You should listen to their stream for a while or something and hear it yourself.

I remember when I lived in Boston, some of those songs had atrocious edits. Even homemade edits can sound good, when they're cut on the beat, but these are absolute trainwrecks. You'd think major market radio could do better for themselves, no?

It's sounds to me that there using TM Century Hitdisc for new music and TMCentury GoldDisc for yesterday favorites. I went to their website and found that in each song they have a Album Version and a Single Edit Version of each song in their catalog. Every radio stations in the country is using the Services.

Although I am not a regular Magic listener, I will say that some of the edit's in songs in general are TERRIBLE. Anyone remember how awful the Christina, Mya, Lil Kim and Pink version of Lady Marmalade was edited to exclude Lil Kim's rap? I am absolutely not a fan of Lil Kim but the edit was just AWWWWWWWWFUL!

I didn't know they played that on Magic. When was this?

ssetta- I meant in general some songs are just edited poorly. I don't know when or if Magic played Lady Marmalade by Christina etc. I can say that I have heard it on Mix 98.5 and Kiss 108 and I think Mike-Fm. You hear Lil Kim do the first .....yea, yea, yea and then it cuts the rest of the rap part and goes straight to the chorus again. Just awful IMO.
