MAGIC 106.7 OR MIX (104.1) ? wHICH DO YOU LIKE AND WHY?

Which one do you like better? Why and why not. How about the one that you don't like? Why and why not. What would you do to change things on any of these stations? The one that you like, tell us why would we listen? Since Mix is now about to go to 104.1, this will give Downtown Boston offices a better chance to get Mix better throughout the inner city. (No matter what walkman I use, I can not get 98.5, 101.7, 107.3, 97.7, 99.5, 102.5, 103.3, 99.1, 94.5, and 93.7) I can not get those stations on any walkman I use (new and old walkman-one is an MPIO Walkman with FM, and one is a Sony AM/FM. Both I can not get those stations in Downtown Boston, Commonwealth Ave area, Southend, Roxbury, Dorchester, Charlestown, Somerville, and Medford.
In Any area (in and outside Boston), I can get 107.9, 106.7, 105.7, 100.7, and 92.9. I can get any of those stations on both walkmans in any part of Boston inside and outside the city. When driving around, I can get all stations in this paragraph and the previous paragraph in any part of Boston inside and outside the city.

Anyways, with Mix now going to 104.1, with a strong signal inside Boston, they will now be competing against Magic 106.7

At my weekday job where I work in Dorchester (Ashmont Train Station area) in our building, they have one station on (Magic 106.7) That's the only station we can get in that business. Some parts of the building we can get some other stations. But most offfices, we can only get Magic 106.7
I noticed, they play some new AC music.

For me, personnally, they are ok. The only way they can be better is if they played more Urban AC (More new Lionel Richie music, Vanessa Williams music, Ginuwine, and Charlie Wilson). At this moment, for me, that's all I can think of now. Everything else is good for me as long as they don't play Mitchelle Branch music. Personnally I don't like her music. I don't like "Game of Love" That song is very bad for AC format. Because love is not supposed to be a game. Love is supposed to be true happiness and true good feelings. Love is not supposed to be a game. That song is an insult for me to hear on (any) station. Other than that. For me, Magic 106.7 is ok

For me, Mix 98.5 is ok. The only thing they should do is add Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, out it on Sunday mornings 8am-Noon. Everything else is ok for me at this moment

I'd rather listen to Mix. Because the music is mostly targeted towards my age group (34). I like Lady D. She is my favorate radio announcer on there.

Personnally I don't like Magic 106.7 because I don't like to hear Mitchelle Branch music on there.
Although, I recomend for (anyone) to listen to Magic 106.7 because they have good music for (any) people of all races, ages, faces and abilities. Personnally I like Nancy Quill, and Dan Justin. I recomend both to listen too on weekdays 10am-3pm and 3pm-8pm. I recomend them because they sound very professional, and they sound like people we can trust, example, if you needed to leave your car keys with them while you step out right quick, they sound like you can trust them to do that.

How about you all? Which do you like and not like? Why and why not? What would you do to make them better? Why and why not? I have more ideas to make Magic 106.7 better but everyone always say bad to me, so all I will keep is with these here. I don't ask for bad responces. I just say my thoughts, I don't say bad to hurt no one, I don't know you, and you don't know me. So please don't think and not say bad to me here?

thank you very much

btw I did a daytrip to Osterville today and found 98.5 and 104.1 both came in along Rt 6 up to exit 5,
fairly well, though I wonder if those nr 103.9's tower (somewhere E of Hyannis?) won't be able to get 104.1

I like niether really. Magic 106.7 is very boring and predictable, playing songs you know by artists you've heard of:p, which means a lot of repetition, and Mix 98.5 plays way too much rock. If Mix played more dance music, I would listen to them more. Maybe the move to 104.1 will also means some changes in the music, that would be nice. With WBCN gone, Boston still has 3 rock stations, WFNX, WBOS, and WAAF, plus the mostly rock stations, WXRV, WROR, but hopefully not the new Mix. We'll see. Also 98.5 does have a great signal in most of the Cape. I wish Oldies 103.3 also did. Cape Country 104 (103.9) is not a strong signal, so those in the western Cape and far outer Cape can still receive 104.1FM.

I agree with you @Radiojay1, if Mix played more dance music, I'd listen more as well. I also don't like neither as well. You are correct regarding Magic 106.7. Two weeks ago, they did play Melinda Doolittle new song, but that's the only time I heard it on there (only once) That song is very nice. All in all, I agree with what you said

I thought XLO carried Rick Dees? Or at least they did a few years ago. I've heard him on XLO before.

I think Magic sounds great, but they aren't exactly on my presets if you know what I mean, not really my kind of music.

I think Mix should play MORE NEW music and much LESS OLD stuff. I listen to Sirius-XM The Pulse on a weekly basis (I have XM radio) and they are a HOT AC that focuses much more on the new stuff, new music, and much less of the old stuff.

I think Mix plays way too much old stuff, and in my opinion that makes them sound dated and repititive. A playlist that would focus much more on new music would make them sound alive and current. Hopefully their current slogan goes as well.

good replay, I also agree, the oldstuff that Mix plays make them sound outdated. Yes, Rick Dees is on WXLO Sunday mornings 7am-11am, but that station doesn't come in good northeast of Boston (East Boston, Revere, Lynn, Swampscott, Marblehead.....)

Good point, and XLO is considred more of a Worcester station anyways, so technically Mix could do it.

Can't wait to see how different "Mix 104" will be!

I have not listened to Mix in years, to the point I was out somewhere Friday morning and was scanning the dial and got to 98.5 and had do ask myself "when did Lander leave and who are these new people?" It's not even a preset on my radio.

I like 106.7 l, I'm not saying I'm thrilled with every song they play, but I can go between them and say ZLX,WROR, WBOQ, 101.3 and 106.3 and be quite happy.

BTW I worked with Nancy Quill 30 years ago, before she was the overnight person at WCGY, and she is one of the nicest people around.

Wait, now I'm confused; love is not supposed to be a game, and you don't like Michelle Branch? Is that what this post is about?

I have other burning questions, like will Magic add Flo Rida, Lady Gaga and T-Pain this week? And will Mix stop playing crappy butt-rock like Daughtry, Nickelback and Hinder when they move to 104.1, out of respect for WBCN? I need answers!

Personally, I can't stand Magic. I do not tune into that station myself, sometimes somebody at work will put it on and I'm forced to listen. It seems that every time it's on they're playing the Police "Every Breath You Take" which wasn't such a bad song when it first came out, but it was so overplayed back then I'm still sick of it. Anyway, Magic plays a lot of too easy listening tunes for me, it reminds me of being in a dentist office.

At work we can only get WROR, WZLX, Mike FM, Kiss, Magic and a few others that I really don't take notice of. Us workers, all women (with the exception of one older man around 70-he doesn't count, he can't hear the radio unless it's blaring and even then doesn't pay attention) range in age from 24 to 55-I'm on the younger end of the spectrum, uh, 40. The youngest will put on some rap stuff, one of the older women will change the station when she's not looking. We listen to WROR and ZLX the most, which is fine with me, but I've been taking a liking to what they play on Mike, but again, when it gets a little loud someone will change it. Actually, Saturday night somebody put Kiss on and it wasn't too bad, they played some funky mixes.

At home I listen to WBOQ, WROR, WFNX and occasionally Mike. Maybe I should check out the new 104? Are they on already or it it still BCN?

I heard Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" on Magic yesterday... that song seems to seriously violate the Magic Lyric Guarantee of "songs that won't embarrass you in front of your kids" seeing as it's about drinking excessively at a club.

Neither. Both sound like they are geared towards soccer moms to me. But then again, they are.

It's interesting that none of the stations you mention are licensed to Boston, but rather Lynn, Brookline and Westborough; Andover and Framingham.
