Magic 106 not so magical

where'd you hear that? they're getting huge numbers with ppm.

magic1067.com still has their weekend staff listed including a couple changes I wasn't aware of. Jackie Brush now does Saturday mornings (she was dropped as host from their Jazz program recently) in addition to her weekday morning drive program on Worcester's WSRS. And former WBOS morning guy George Knight does Sundays from 4-8.

The great majority of their entire staff has been with Magic (and in Boston radio) for a long time.

Whether the shows are live or voicetracked does not necessarily change how they are listed on their website. A host can voicetrack the breaks for their weekend show quickly during the week, and the computer plays them back with the music during the weekend, but it's still "their show" and the illusion on the air as well as on the website is that they're actually there, though they're not, so the station doesn't have to pay a host for that shift. Not many casual listeners can tell, or will notice, the difference. Without naming names or stations, I can tell you that there are already a number of voicetracked shifts on some of the major stations in the area, with the hosts listed on the station websites for those shifts, that you may think are being hosted live.

I didn't post them because the stations, and/or the hosts, may not want people to know that they're not live, but others have posted at least one of them in another thread here....
