Magic 98/Madison

I found this station by accident a few weeks ago as I was trying to find an AT40-70s station I could listen to online. Now I listen every weekend. I enjoy both their Saturday 70s and Sunday 80s programming. Excellent variety of music and lot's of "oh wow" songs, not just the played out songs that have been burned into the ground.

Most of all I am impressed that they have live jocks all weekend. They even run contests! The personalities keep you company and informed without talking too much. I normally don't pay much attention to imaging, but this station has excellent sweepers for the weekend shows. I love the station voice, he is authoritative yet friendly sounding. WMGN is doing radio the old fashioned way and it sounds great. You will rarely hear radio like this these days, even in markets much larger than Madison.

Let's do the Time Warp again!
You've fallen into the rabbit hole, where WMGN has been doing exactly the same thing on the weekends for 15 or 20 years. For those of us available to listen all this time, "Oh Wow" was replaced by "Not Again!" a long time ago. They used to get 10 shares...now they pull 5 shares.

And I hate to burst your bubble, but much of their weekend programming is voice tracked.

Not a huge fan, but the station does sound different and more local than many stations these days in most markets. I have to give them credit for that. Most of those DJs have been on there for years which may be quaint but does give the station a unique sound.

Has anyone else notice that when Jim McGaw says "Magic 98" it sounds like "Magicked 98", just about every single time. ???
