Magic Dthn cuts today

Now, there is only one left on the mystery cruise boat from the days of styles media. The last old guard KMXer left Oct of 07 when John Houston finally left 103.9 and went to WOOF. (How's that working out for you folks in the tower?) As of now, only Mr. Corbitt (maybe spelled incorrectly, sorry if so) remains from the days of tom and kim. Dave was let go today. Don't know if it was budget or if his production outshone VD's or maybe that he beat VD in certain demos (so I hear) but none-the-less, Dave is out the door. Exiting with Dave is Big Daddy JJ. Two nice guys that I personally enjoyed listening to and working with (once upon a time in a land far away). You guys will be OK, you probably already feel better in many ways. I've room here on the courthouse steps if you've time to sit (JJ, just bring the grill so we can BBQ).

So, left in the clouds is the former sorcerer's apprentice but still practicing the magic of cheap channel self preservation (which he probably doesn't enjoy) is KVD along with the few others on the 8th floor, Bryant (afore mentioned), Steve, Aaron, Stephano and Billy. Today is the first of April so monthly sales reports are in which is probably why the two guys were cut today. However, the quarterly report to investors will be due in about a week (?) so the rest that are left better keep your heads low so you may avoid the axe.

Dave and JJ, keep your heads up and eyes open, everything will be alright. I'll miss hearing you but then again now I've no reason to listen to tragic at all.

Dave and JJ I can't stand to hear the news! Like Stewy said, I am sure you sighed a sigh of relief and feel better, keep you heads up.

This is really a sad story...

It started years ago with Styles, they had the talent and stations to rule the market, with a little tweeking. Instead of fixin' the broken the broke the only good thing they had. The Tragician came in with smoke and mirrors and promised a happily ever after. He too instead of fixing the broke brought in another Storey and they followed the Styles pattern of destruction. So on this Train jumped the conductor, could it be the Rally Express? No still the Tragic Express...Every "Storey" need an ending.

How many stations is Bryant Corbitt on? I know he does shifts for more than one Magic station besides WKMX.
 
I knew it smelled like arse when KVD walked in the building......and with Storey in control??

Tragic, that is an understatement. It has been three years since the magician took over...WOW. That's more than a chance to fix it, thats says "hey I don't know what the heck I'm doing"...and my wand doesn't work anymore, and the people I have hired are clueless too! Someone find me a scapegoat quick.

In March 2006, the company (Styles Media) was cash flowing in both markets....whoops. So there was no destruction, unless you were part of the fallout..remember with investors cash flow is king, people don't really matter. Sad but true.

The plan is for "ALL OF THEM". Isn't it clever how I have him working the same shift on two different
stations at the same time!

I guess you still are drinking the kool-aid! We all know the true history, yours is just distorted. I guess when you are so jealous of someone still in the business and are rejoicing in seeing what comes around goes around distorting the truth makes one feels good.

I am a professional and do not mean to attack in a public forum, so that is all I am going to say.

Is there anything in Dolthan radio that is positive? I surf the boards from time to time and live way far away but it seems everytime I surf this board there is nothing but negatives. If you think negative you wiill be negative .. just seems to me that not everything on radio in Dothan can be bad. Can the Magic folks be as bad as you make them out to be .. the CC guy that was cut loose may have had his hands tied .. but one must remember he was a CC guy! Oh wow .. did I say that? Seems to me like you guys have a bunch of radio stations in a medium market that is in search of leadership .. with all the armchair Program Directors and General Managers writing boards on how it should be done need to get your resumes in order and apply for a job. It is my understanding that Majic board has undergone a shift in ownership control and maybe .. just maybe .. they are "righting the ship". Anyway it is none of my business and I for one and just very happy to be in radio and .... working!

Well Well Well Big Surprise Magic cuts more good people

Dave is a very good Jock and can hold his own when it comes to Production.  JJ Knows his demo better than

anyone else in that building. I wish both you guys the best I know you will both land on your feet Your both

great talents.


As for Bryant (WHATS GOOD TEACH) I know he is doing all their stations

Rather than the occasional surf through Dothan why don't you read way back through the past 75 pages or so of the AL boards about Dothan; keep a white board (big one) so you can plot out the vast and varied changes of people/formats/ownership; then when you finish, if you think everything and everyone in Dthn is thinking too negatively, then you can preach. I'd suggest starting about May of 2004. Then you will see that magic is actually worse than this board portrays and the posters have really been pretty nice to them. Resumes and apps? ::) No, that is why I'm sitting on the courthouse steps and the crowd with me is getting bigger. We're just being patiently positive until Chapter 7 causes a disappearing act! I don't mean to get all over you since you must not have a clue about things WHERE IT IS RIGHT NOW 75 DEGREES AND WE'VE HAD MAYBE 6 FLURRIES IN THE PAST 12 YEARS. This board has become true entertainment for those of us in the market since radio is lacking for that in the majority of cases.

And Moonshine, if you've an extra jug of clear, odorless and tasteless, send it to us! Thyat would improve our outlook more than anything else.
