Magic System - Meme Pas Fatigue

This song is Horrible... No offense, just saying... ;)

The song's pretty good, but has no chance of making it big in the US. If it becomes a hit all over Europe, including the UK, as well as the province of Quebec, then maybe a few radio stations in America will look into it.

BTW, are you sure "Drop It Like It's Hot" went to number 1? As for the other songs "Laffy Taffy" and "Lollipop" were huge records, regardless of their quality. People heard them on the radio, saw the videos, and danced to them in the clubs, and the reaction was favorable enough to land them in the pole position on the charts.
"The Macarena" also went to number one, for many weeks, not just here but all over the world.

But one of the worswt songs, or funniest in my opinion, to make it to number one in America is another French language tune. The Singing Nun's "Dominique". Anyone remember that one?

None of those songs mentioned were Number 1 at CHR. Ever.

"Lollipop" peaked at #5.

"Laffy Taffy" didn't even chart.

"Drop It Like It's Hot" barely made the chart (peaked at #40).

These songs did have some level of popularity for the reasons CHRles described, but one he left out, as well: They were popular with WOMEN IN THE DEMO, something this board has a massive shortage of.

As to the original post/question: No. It won't have a chance on American CHR.

Thx for the clarification Roger. Maybe he was referring to Billboard's Hot 100? I believe "Laffy Taffy" did make it to the top of the Pop charts there.

Yes, I was referring to the Top 100 Singles. Still a pretty important measure of a song's popularity, though obviously not always on par with airplay.

But songs with little melody and crappy lyrics have made it #1 on Top 40 Mainstream (I think that's what you mean by "CHR")...e.g. "Single Ladies" by Beyonce". And don't even get started with Rhythmic CHR, which this song might fit as well.

And again, I bring up that good Top 40/M (yes...what I meant by CHR) programmers program to their audience, not themselves. The songs that you loathe that have seen success, such as "Single Ladies," were all big hits with women in the demo.
