Just in....Magic to flip one of their Dothan stations to News/Talk.

KMX with squirrel doing 24 hours of emotional heart tugging banter? Nah.

Probably 93.1 or 100.5
 
I would speculate 93.1 as it is not in the Dothan Metro.
This may give them access to more of the syndicated shows
that are market protected on Metro (93.7 & 1450) stations.
And they can save money by dropping Steve Harvey & Big Daddy.
No employees on 100.5 and probably some revenue from Auburn
football (when they can get it on the air) and Nascar probably rules it out.
 
too bad...hate to see 93.1 and Big Daddy go away. if that's the outcome
 
I tried to tell them to do this a year ago. I told them sports on 100.5 was a no-go. But what do I know? I only spent 5 years with an FM talk waayyy before FM talk was cool. You can make money on an FM talker but it requires a good programmer, patient management, sales execs who aren't afraid to work and a dedicated staff.

FM talk isn't the easiest format to make money in. But if you have the right staff, there is a TON of money to be made...

But, again, what do I know?
 
Never understood the sports thing on 100.5 myself.
I know that more than one person opined that talk would
be better than sports. Nobody was listening.
Reckon they will simulcast the YOO morning show???
 
I was in PCB when all this went down. There were a few people tryig to push that, me included. But what did I know.
 
FM talk Radio over 93.1, crazy. JJ's Listeners love him. Gotta give it time to grow,
If they had more support and help maybe. 100.5 (sports) is a waste!

No. However, one would think that if your competition across town had been petioning for this for years you wouldn't roll out the red carpet for your competitor and give them something that is providing you with the upper hand to the bacon.

They are rushing down victory lane and stealing your thunder!!!!

Slightly off topic, but what happened to Rick & Blubber on 103.9?
It is now all John Houston all the time.
 
There is no telling,No one down there cared enough to keep them on anyway when they were on the air. It's just like Auburn Football this past season they couldn't even air the game and the spots correctly.

Sounds like what Magic needs to do is work on boosting 93.1 and Cleaning up the mess they have made with 100.5!
They need to start over with that station. Maybe if they stuck with one format it would work. What has it been? 3 different formats in the last couple of years...
 
I agree about 100.5. Today I heard a promo on 103.9 saying that they were moving Rick & Bubba to 100.5 this coming Monday. So for now it's just going to be John Houston Radio all day long (Poor John) Voice Tracked and Live. I smell possible format change coming to 103.9 and possibly 100.5 ?
 
What's up with the whole company...A & KC talking about extended hours for they and BM, Dave going to another station, all on air this am. Here's a guess, bringing someone in that's been off a while? Gonna squeeze the only number one jock last book out 'cause her numbers were best? Hope not.

Anyone with info?
 
What's up with the whole company....They are hoping the radio fairy will come sprinkle some "magic" dust over them so the can learn the radio business...

Magic is the largest cluster in the market and could very well take the market by storm but instead they continue to get people who wanna play radio and let them play radio! It wouldn't take much to take that cluster to the top! Anyone wanna make a donation to my fund?

We're crossing two threads here but that wasn't a fair hint, On Broadway was a remake George did...I was thinking of "This Masquerade". Or we could just be promoting "Community Theater in Amsterdam".
