Frank FM in Portland is now "Maine's Classic Hits" also I D'ing with WBYA Islesboro,WFNK Lewiston.No more Portland in the ID.Are they a complete simulcast with WBYA now?

I don't know about a complete simulcast but 107.5 and 105.5 both share a facebook page at FRANK FM and a twitter too. The only mentioning of changing I could find on facebook was this, A person posted that they noticed that the morning's show name of Frank's Place is no more and wondered what the reasoning was. Frank FM replied, "We wanted the show to be called what it really is! With our 100,000 watt signal in southern Maine, and our 105.5 Frank FM signal along the Mid-Coast, we're all over the place! Now we're Maine's Morning Show!"

So to me I think this pretty much means that the two Frank FM's in Maine are sharing a slogan and a morning show plus some dj's.
 
Pretty sure it's a complete simulcast (not sure if it's the same commercial load) It's been a morning show simulcast for a while now with the same jocks on at the same time (slightly altered playlist however) but now it's a full simulcast and no frequency IDs, just "Frank FM" all day
 
Probably different spot loads. Nassau had separate spot loads when the simulcasted The Hawk in NH.

The Hooksett studio fired WWHK (102.3) spots, Gilford studio fired WWHQ (101.5) spots.
 
We can always count on Underminer to take a perfectly good conversation and turn it into a negative shot at some broadcaster. Please explain to me why you think 107.5 Frank FM needs to be compared to the Titantic, is it sinking, is there an iceberg dead ahead? Isn't Frank one of the most succesful stations in the state along with BLM and JBQ?
 
Weekend Warrior--Umm, now. The latest ratings, according to downeast.com: 1. WJBQ-FM (10.1 share) 2. WMEA (9.1) 3. classic rock WBLM-FM (7.8), 4. news-talk WGAN-AM (7.2), 5. (tie) country WPOR-FM and oldies WYNZ-FM (both with 6.2), 7. country WTHT-FM (5.5), 8. (tie) alternative rock WCYY-FM and adult contemporary WHOM-FM (4.9) and 10. (tie) classic hits WFNK-FM and hot adult contemporary WMGX-FM (4.6). Finishing in a tie for 10th with the dying Coast ain't exactly dominating the market.
 
For what it's worth, WFNK is #3 Adults 25-54 in the Portland Metro. Coast is #9 in this demo. If anything, it's a great example of how misleading 12+ numbers can be in regards to what really matters and what doesn't. Nothing means less than 12+ but I can appreciate that is all the information some may have access to
 
Underminer, I can assure you that the peeps in charge of Frank are not concerned about the 12+ numbers published by Downeast.com nor are any advertisers. They are excited that Frank is top 3 adults 25-54 and has been every book since Frank was launched in 2004 and no other station in the market can claim that. What I can't understand is why you hate Frank FM so much. Your posts over the last couple of years shows you have no love for Nassau Broadcasting in any way. Are you a broadcaster or former broadcaster, did Nassau Broadcasting or Frank do something to you personally, are you a disgruntled former employee?

I'm just wondering what could have made you despise them so much.
 
WW, nothing personal. I am of the opinion that Nassau represents everything that is wrong about radio in the past decade. Voicetracking, particularly from out-of-market talent, being the most offensive. Not that everyone who works there is to blame. I think Leif is great and at least Heidi isn't bad. For the rest, sorry, I just think they suck. I, and many others, look forward to the day when Nassau decides that PWM ain't happening for them anymore and they sell to some mom-and-pop outfit who will bring back local talent and local content.
 
Isn't Saga actually the only group that is currently using out of market to voice track - specifically middays on Coast? I'm not counting syndicated shows like Imus, John Tesh or Free Beer. What daypart on Nassau or Citadel is being voice tracked from someone not in Portland?
 
I'm wondering where those downeast.com ratings are from? It has WMEA as #2 but non-commercial stations aren't listed in markets still using the diary system, namely markets below #50. According to this list, Frank is tied with WJBQ at #4, 12+. Here are the Fall 2010 Arbitron ratings according to InsideRadio.com and Fall is the most recent since Portland is only surveyed twice per year:

(Who'd think Country would be both #2 and #3 in Portland? And why is WGAN usually #1 while WLOB-AM-FM is so low? That was true even when WLOB-FM was on a 100,000 watt signal on 96.3. Actually in Southern Maine, WLOB would be better off running Progressive Talk rather than being one of three Conservative Talk stations, along with WGAN and WZAN. And WZAN should have kept its Hot Talk format instead of also going Conservative. Their numbers didn't go up but I'm sure the average age of the audience did.)

Underminer, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion that is what this discussion board is about but, you need to base opinions on facts....right? Do you feel the same way about Citadel soon to be Cumulus and Saga as you do about Nassau they also represent everything you hate?

You can take a big dump on Nassau all you want however, you can not ignore the incredible success they have had challenging heritage stations like WBLM, (the former) WMGX, WCYY and who would have thought the Wolf could beat WPOR in Portland adults 25-54. Let's not forget the Bone is top 3 men with it's little 3k 106.3 signal. Hate them all you want, they know what they are doing and probably are not going anywhere soon. I'm sure Saga and Cumulus would love to see Nassau leave the market too.
 
Ray ting is correct. The Portland market has been embargoed for the last year because Saga and Citadel don't subscribe. Those are the last ratings before the embargo went into place.
