Mainline in Dayton....possible format changes???

Mainline is in and the GM is out. Any thoughts, predictions or just plain SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) on the future of the old Radio One properties?

Jack on 92.9. Movin' on 102.9. Hot moves to 101.5. lol. Fresh AC on 1410. and country like 97.3 on 92.1. lol. Jeepers. That would sure be swell. lol. Me and my buddys are jazzed for Jack here in Houston. Jacks kicking Texas sized booty and taking names. lol.

Wow! That's uh bold!
I think one of the two urban leaning stations will go. While I know Hot 102-9 has unbelievable ratings, I also am aware that it's very difficult to sell R&B given the main target audience.I think/hope Z93 is reserected into something respectable.
As for 1410, well, I wish I had the opportunity to become the PD over there someday. There are so many basic things that could be cleaned up.
Oh and can we get rid of the Two Live Stupids?

My thoughts (call me crazy, but...):

Hot 102.9 stays - skews more CHR/Rhythmic
WROU 92.1 is sold off to Cox and becomes a Movin-type station
Z93 flips to country to go to battle with K99. Hey - they have the signal. Keep it live and local.
WKSW is sold as it is not a Dayton player
WING 1410 becomes like WDJO in Cincy playin Good Time Oldies

Crazy???? What are your thoughts?

I would love that. Heres mine:

92.1: MOViN or Jammin' Oldies would be nice. Get your Jammin' Oldies and R&B listeners.
92.9: Hot AC? They need to get rid of Z93. It's not working nor will work anymore. 945 is now beating it.
102.9: I would love to see WILD 102-9. Hits & Hip-Hop. Skew more Rhythmic. That would be awesome for Dayton. Could kill 945.
WKSW: Who cares! Sell it.
1410: Keep it. We need ESPN Radio.

Mainline, be smart.

I wouldn't be surprised if WDHT(Hot 102.9) does shift to a Rhythmic direction since they do report to Mediabase's CHR/Rhythmic panel.

When did the GM come in? Last night I was listening to 1029.. Party Man was supposed to hit a break. STRAIGHT TO COMMERCIAL. Sign? Doubt it. I really would like a WILD 1029 though like Wild 93-9 or just a nice rhythmic. Is it officially Mainline?

Here are my predictions-

Mainline is a very heritage based company. They are owned by Arlington Capital who is firm on history. Majority of their business is financial based history and capital. They show off their heritage properties whatever it may be.

If anything is going to happen - Z93 will become Today's Best Music or Modern Hit Music and wedge between Channel and Mix.

101.5 is moving into Enon. Whatever this may mean, im not sure, however something is telling me that it will go Oldies / Classic Hits

102.9 will remain Rhythmic based CHR and cross over a lot with Z93 and they are okay with this, because Radio One is making a money in their Anglo Saxon markets and a lot of money, it just doesnt fit their portfolio. Lets pray they dont become a Wild, that station is such a mess anymore. It used to be good when they let Phil and Aaron run things, but with new management behind the scenes its nothing but a pile of dog *hit.

92.1 will be part of a spin off to Cox. They may keep it but something tells me they will flip it off to Cox in exchange for 95.3. Cox will flip 92.1 to News/Talk FM Simulcast with WHIO and Mainline will take 95.3 in their posession and flip it to New Jazz/AC to BOB FM. Just like in Richmond.

So Cox will then be more centralized on their performance
WHIO-AM News/Talk
WHIO-FM News/Talk
WHKO-FM Country

Mainline will have a much more streamlined cluster with
WING-AM Sports
WGTZ-FM Adult CHR
WZLR-FM Adult Hits
WKSW-FM Classic Hits
WDHT-FM Rhythmic Hits

The big question for the market is once WDKF and WDSJ get spun off, whats going to happen to them?

Now to Mainline Louisville

WGZB-FM Rhythmic Hits (Its a cash cow, it wont change a thing)
WDJX-FM CHR Mainstream (Another heritage cash cow)
WMJM-FM Urban AC (It gives WVEZ a run for its money)

Look for a flip with WXMA and WLRS. WXMA will move to 105.1 and WLRS will move back to 102.3. They will move the WLRS calls and bring back The Walrus. The former owner had an investor from guess what company...Arlington, how Ironic is that?

WXMA will move to 105.1 but look for a format change. Hot AC tags on DJX too much and its not a good enough competitor to Louie. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say look for FM talk coming to Louisville on the 105.1 signal.

Once again, CC has to sell WKJK and WTFX in this market...so it makes it interesting once again!

Keep WDHT as hip-hop/R&B (moo!)
Sell off WKSW Urbana/Springfield and keep it there at 101.7
WGTZ- must be upgraded to keep it a hit station
WING-heritage top 40 history an obvious choice for oldies
WROU-classic soul/old school R&B or sell to WDAO-AM and make it an AM-FM simulcast..a plus for Jim Johnson to upgrade.

....meanwhile back at the bat cave...Nick, Jason, Glenn and Tommy are reading your predictions about Cox and chuckling.

Oh well, speculation is fun. But truth be told, no one knows ANYTHING thats going to happen until it happens. In my experience, Cox is one of the smartest and best at keeping these types of things secret. Must be because their employees tend to be more loyal than the employees at other groups. Have you noticed that the format flips other groups do seem to somehow leak before they actually happen? It's amazing, but I've never known of a Cox flip that anyone had exactly pegged before it happened. This is true in just about all of their markets. Then, they surprise everyone by doing something you never expected.

And once again, all the armchair PD's on the outside look like clowns.

Oh, but it IS somewhat therapeutic to dream isn't it?

I know I'm off subject but what will happen to Russ Parr & Tom Joyner? Aren't they Radio One trademarks?

Yes, but it'll be up to station management to decide on whether they'll retain the shows or replace them with local talent.

I've noticed a slight change in Z93. ID's, Music Mix.. however, they ran the Morning Z promo which dissappointed me.. I thought we possibly had a flip Monday.
