Mainstream CHR in Jersey

Can someone who is a PD in jerseyland explain the weirdness of the CHR's there?
When at home in Bensalem, I get PST and WAYV.
WPST seems to be really querky, they seem to get and play the hits before everyone else does, and they're not really a CHR. (Playing a dance mix of complicated next to "Walking on Sunshine" next to "Feel good, Inc", next to "Golddigger", next to "Crazy Frog", next to "Live Like You Are Dyeing", next to "You're Beautiful"?
WAYV is a rapless CHR playing lots of older recurrence that I've not heard in other CHR's. (Can't say I've heard that before...)
Are all jersey CHR's like this? I don't get Q107 and WBBO the rock/CHR hydrid is now simelcasting
WHTG-FM Eatentown, so there Rock/CHR must've not've worked well or they didn't get add revenue.
Thanks
John

WAYV can't be considered a CHR - but they pitch their music up and market themselves as such because there is no competition. Between the type of music they play and the '80s weekends, make no mistake about it - WAYV is without question a Hot AC.

Even Q107 isn't really your typical CHR - they lean rather heavily toward Urban tracks and the really big mainstream hits (many of which get spins on the Hot AC stations), leaving little room for the Rhythmic dance tracks that many CHRs have in the rotation (and received airplay on 105.5/99.3 The Buzz before they went Urban). If Z-100 and Q 102 are the CHR model that we've become accustomed to, none of the CHRs in New Jersey conform to it completely.

WAVY reports their spins to the trades as a Hot AC.

PST is probably heavily day-parting - trying to maximize the 25-39 year old women at work from 9 AM to 5 PM, while going younger at night.

It's probably difficult to find a true 18-29 focused CHR in many small to medium size markets. For some reason, unlike TV which embraces 18-49, the key demo in radio is just a tick older: 25-54. Must be the ad agencies.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of one Mainstream CHR in the entire state: WPST. (Unless you count Z100 which, of course, you shouldn't.)

Q107 is a Rhythmic CHR, the Buzzlets are Urban CHR, and to mention CHR in the same breath with the letters "WAYV" is an insult to every Top 40 station in the history of the genre.

There must be other CHR's in the state, no? I'm missing at least one, right?

WCHY which is "Max 106.3" a Clear-Channel property and a ripoff of "Z-100" is up in Blairstown, Warren County and positions themselves as "The 90's & NOW" station. I would say that they are a pretty good CHR, just with a crappy stick.

Just my thoughts!!

They're a Hot AC. No rap, lots of gold.

WJKS/Canton, "Kiss 101.7" ia an Urban CHR.

What's up all... I am a mixshow dj for Q107 on Saturday nights and I play the hottest dance and hip hop together... Q107 is starting to play more of the top dance songs so be on the lookout...
