MAJIC SCANDAL ABOUT TO ERUPT

Bob Hamilton story is surfacing in media and trades soon.

The entire bldg knows the story. Lurid. Sleazy. Not the stuff of "Majic".
Hamilton out of bldg in July and "resigned" in Aug.
Clients won't be happy.

His only crime was playing 'Hotel California' 30 times a day. Lay off. ;)

I'm with you Stranglove...if you've got nothing to say don't disparage the guy...so put up or shut up, but cut the slander.

Most likely a broadcasting school wannabe who bugged Bob for a job and was told he stunk.

This is somebody fired or not hired at 102..posting this about B.H.
what good does it do to smear a mans name
and is this what these postings and boards are for? Unless you are living
a charmed life remember karma. Once the bad karma kicks in there's
no stopping it

Nope. Just facts. Anybody in the bldg knows the story about Hamilton.

O.K. Enough with the terminal "cloak and dagger" melodrama.

This isn't rocket science. It's the nature of the business that PDs come and eventually they go. As a fan of WMXJ, I prefer to look at the fact that Mr. Hamilton lasted a long time at the station. While like formats across the country were falling by the wayside, Majic continued doing it's thing and it evolved with an updated sound. B.H. deserves some credit for that but let's face it, the station has a tremendous talent pool. Yes, no doubt he made errors but no one - especially PDs are perfect.

I think the more important question to ask is if the station is replacing Bob with someone new or is Mindy Lang assuming these duties? Mindy has been a staple at the station since what - Day One - surely she's earned her stripes and she's been calling the music shots for eons. And in my humble opinion, she really knows the format and has been a driving force at the station forever.

IMHO, I'm sure board visitors are more interested in what will happen then to hear the sordid details as to why a person was dismissed. Discuss.

JJ,

I will agree with you on Mindy getting the PD nod but to say that they have a tremendous talent pool is a tremendous stretch. The place is loaded with Pukers.

As far as the talent pool, I was referring to the many who worked at the station in various capacities during Mr. Hamilton's tenure who no doubt made his job easier and successful.

Who can forget Rick Shaw? He will always be the legend and he had legions of followers from "the good old days." He helped solidify the Majic brand. His name recognition was invaluable to the station and his charatable activity, The Majic Children's Fund, tied the station to the community in which it serves.

Eric Brandon had a very long run, close to 20 years if I recall, middays. His laid back personna was perfect for the South Florida lifestyle. I always found Eric witty and cool. He just was victim to budget cuts but he always performed well for the station.

I can write a book about Ron St. John. What Rick Shaw was in AM drive, Ron is to PM drive. She103, you think Majic has a bunch of pukers. Well, actually they all talk far less than they once did. And Ron St. John manages to say quite a lot in relatively short time. He is the consumate professional and just look at his longevity not only at Majic but in Miami radio. Tremendous talent - yes I think so. Ron makes it look so easy.

Mindy Lang has a unique style and I think she well understands her audience. She doesn't talk down to them but rather she brings up interesting music tid bits without sounding like a no-it-all. Mindy was even fantastic when she worked the 7-midnight shift taking requests. To her critics, she may have played it too conservative over the years but hey, she's remained in a medium where change is the norm.

Joe Johnson's knowledge of the Beatles is incredible. Before taking on morning show duties, Joe had a reputation for being just about the best there is in production. That certainly helps the life of the PD when there is one less thing to worry about.

On the weekends, I still get up way too early and I enjoy Jim Richards a lot. If I'm not mistaken, Jim goes back to Miami AM rock 'n roll days too. Where I live, if you are over 50, you are dead in radio. Pretty groovy to see Majic still recognizes people for their worth and doesn't penalize them for age.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Majic has a lot of experience at the mike and behind the scenes. People with proven track records. "Pukers", I say not! Any PD would have been in hog heaven to have what they got at Majic.

Talent is such a subjective thing. The people on Majic have my respect. It's not easy to survive in radio as long as many of them have.

I'm not saying what I'm going to say here because I'm a female, but outside of the women on the station, I have to agree with she103. I have listened to the guys on Majic and have often wondered if they talk to their children in the same radio voice as they talk to their listeners? They do not sound real to me. They sound radio-ish and I hate to say it, fake.

Yes, John Jax, they have a wealth of experience. But that doesn't mean they sound real. They sound stuck in the 50's. Somebody should let them know it's 2008.

Yeah nobody want to know the sordid details of Bob Hamilton's dismissal. Just like nobody looked at the pics of Danny DJ's girlfriend's injuries.
The coverup of the Hamilton is the real story especially to clients and listeners.
And it will cause headlines in the radio biz and the local media that love such a story.
Somebody mentioned karma earlier. Hamilton got his right in the face.

mickeyfranko....Wow, you would never make it as a journalist. Its OK to tease an upcoming story, but you have to know when to let the cat out of the bag an not drag it through the mud. Otherwise you seem like a person just trying to smear someone's reputation with absolutely no facts or substance to back up your claims. So its time for you to either tell everyone what you know about the Bob Hamilton story and let the court of public opinon decide whether it has merit or otherwise don't post anything anywhere until you are totally prepared to back it up.

I hate to seem presumptuous but I suggest the board admin take this silly topic down. Nothing is coming of it, why waste the space?

I have known Bob for years and I think all this scandal talk is BS.
