Majik 104.9?

Is anyone aware of this?

http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/info?call=KWCX&service=FM

Wikipedia lists its current branding as X Wave 104.9

Apparently in 2003, CC reached a deal to acquire it and another station, but the deal was contingent on the move into the Tucson area. The FCC denied the move and the deal fell through. Now, KZLZ (in 2007) reached a deal to acquire it from Lakeshore media LLC. I wonder who will end up with it in the end.

I can get it here in Sahuarita, a mix of all formats...oldies, rap and whatever......

I think you are getting Mega 106.3 & 104.9 not KWCX. The construction permit was just granted to KWCX on August 29th 2009 to move into Tanque Verde. I doubt you'd be able to receive their current 733 watt station out of Safford.

What I know about this.

KGMG has applied for a booster on 106.3 to take care of the area where they will lose the translator that is currently on 104.9

The KWCX matter was denied because of two reasons a few years back.

1. Davis-Monthan was not considered a community for FCC licensing purposes.
2. A Mexican station out of Nogales, Sonora, XHNI, is on 104.9. So how does this resolve things?

Another fly in the ointment may be 104.5 out of Vail. Is that still a factor? Did they stay on 98.5 even though there is apparently now an allotment at 98.1 in Patagonia?

And what happened to the 103.3 mov-in at Tanque Verde also? That would have come from Lordsburg NM.

No, it's not Mega the above folks are talking about...I get "X-Wave 104-9" when I am in Sahuarita also. I always thought it was an interesting station...kinda mysterious...wondered what it was all about.

I happened to be driving through Wilcox and actually stopped in at the station. It's in a house in the middle of BFE. One guy runs it and mans it 24 hours...nice guy. I knocked on the door and he gave me a tour. Interesting station to say the least.

Yep. 98.5 (KRDX "The Fox") is still alive'n'kickin'. Never mind 98.1, in parts of Tucson they get bled on by Hot 98.3.
They have a good signal on most of the east side of town. I've got them on at this moment, BTW.
