Major Announcement Jan 6

WOKY, Milwaukee, will be going full time oldies on Jan 6. Uncle Lar will be the morning man.... he has always been to good for Chicago anyway. ;D

Not possible. Do you not read Eduardo/OldGringo, nobody wants oldies. Oldies listeners do not buy enough beer, only the totally insane would go oldies on terrestrial radio because oldies fans do not buy enough stuff often enough. But I sure hope they have an online stream...

It's NOT the Oldies Listeners thats the problem it's the 30 something buyers at ad placement places. I know this because our little AM Oldies station did a car show this past weekend and we had over 1,000 listeners drop by and spend money. One vendor said how come we are not running ads on your station I said your agent doesn't think oldies listeners are right for you and he said I am making a call Monday give me YOUR RATE CARD.
As far as Lujack goes will he be doing it from his home in Santa Fe????

I am sure SuperJock will be at home in his jammies when he is on the air--ah, the wonders of technology and I sure hope it's true. Meanwhile, someplace on here I found the address to the place where one can buy Animal Stories cds, and they are killingly. The url www.animalstoriescd.com

Concerning Larry Lujack

Would it be too far fetched to think that Lujack might be working (if any of this is true) under the same roof as Tommy Edwards again?

Just logic.

But again, this could all be hot air.

From your mouth to god's ear. But doubtful. Tommy Edwards is currently doing afternoons on WILV-FM (100.3) in Chicago--wall-to-wall ear-bleeding disco (otherwise known as rhythmic AC)--and it streams on the Net. Maybe some neato Animal Stories thing--that would be nice--but if Lujack is back it is sans Edwards unless someone springs Edwards from his current gig. Anyway, WOKY is Clear Channel, as was the late, great RealOldies and if they had the brains god gave a lemon, those two would still be on the air. On the other hand, who knows...

Is this serious or some mean-spirited joke?

I have a hard time with WOKY going oldies, if they do, it'll be the "snoozers", not the rockers.
They have been THE MOR station forever in Milwaukee.
Mr & Mrs C, on "Happy Days" probably listened to WOKY, and it was overtly mellow, even then.
SAVE me from the pablum!
Not to worry, their pattern is VERY rigid, and stops at the cheddar curtain (IL-WI border).

may be something to it - every post relating to the subject on the awful brew city radio forum has been deleted.
Including posts asking why references to WOKY have been deleted :)

WOKY until the mid 1980's was Milwaukee's AM TOP 40 and in it's heyday was as popular in Brew Town as WLS AM was in Chicago. However they've got an even stronger base (smaller and older but more money) with their MOR Adult Standards format now. For them to switch to oldies would be stupid because Milwaukee already has one AM and two FM oldies stations.
