MAJOR AUDIO ISSUES ON 1480 SATURDAY @ 7:30A

Major "stutter issues" with the audio on KBXD. Sounds like a IP delivery system with bit rate problems. The stutter is rapid rather than a repeat. Also surprised to hear they play the "Son of a Bitch" version of Charlie Daniels Devil Went Down To GA...

Next song was "Old Rivers" Walter Brennon..

Looking at the signal on the ICOM spectrum scope it looks real WIDE, almost like it's running IBOC but without the hiss. Maybe I'm not used to seeing a wideband AM signal for so long but it does look a little wide..

The Bit stutter sounds like a clock issue i.e. 44.1 played at 48 or similar.

So 1480 is Country? I noticed no posts say anything about it

I think it was program testing and not a launch of any type. I never heard liners/ID's just segued music. I check them again Sunday.

So aside from the audio problems how's the signal strength in the Dallas area? Where I am near Tyler I figure the pattern is sending about 50 watts of the 50,000 toward me, so I can barely hear any modulation at all, not enough to tell if the audio is good or bad!

I was listening Saturday morning, so I'd assume they were on day power/pattern. The signal was around S-9+ on the ICOM 756 and the 160m inverted V. I'd "assume" it was the 25kw signal? My location is near Anna TX.

I punched 1480 up just before midnight Friday coming home from football. They were on night pattern since by the time I got home around 12:30 AM Saturday they were in the jumble at my QTH north of Lake Ray Hubbard near the Bush. 50's and early 60's oldies segue serenade and no ID.
They are listenable around Northwest Highway and Garland Road but progressively got weaker as went north east.

I haven't had a chance to check them out since though.

No activity on 1480 all day Sunday. So I'll listen Monday. The only station I'm hearing Sunday at 18:17C is KQAM Wichita

1480 ON-AIR (PROGRAM TEST?) 11/12/12 @ 8:15a - 8:33a

With a mix of Southern/Modern/Country Gospel Music @ 8:15a. Signal S-9+10 near Anna, Texas. No ID/or imaging

Audio stutter issue from Saturday was corrected. However, the STL appears to be a low bit-rate as the music has that irritating "watery" mp3 sound.

Carrier dropped at 8:33a

Good ears listen alike as I heard 1480 at that time too and the carrier drop about 8:32 this morning. I'll be a little more generous on their audio quality, it wasn't as iffy as it was when I heard them last late Friday night. I checked adjacent channel splatter and while there was some on 1470 and perhaps a little less on 1490, I did hear Sherman's 1500 and the 1460 from Burleson and they weren't bothered by the new RF. I was on I-30 west between 635 and Loop 12 in Mesquite.

They sound pretty good here as well, If they'd raise the bit rate on the STL they could nail it down and call it good.
