Major Changes at NewsTalk 710 KGNC

Since Chris Albracht exited KGNC-AM as program director and Agribusiness director, the station has seen quite a few changes in its lineup. Since this day following the labor day weekend, it almost sounds like a whole new station came to the market. The John Terry Show and The Michael Medved Show have been pulled from the lineup altogether.

Greg Wheeler has now expanded the Agribusiness and Information Hour to 90 minutes (5 to 6:30 AM), and the first hour of the show is set to simulcast on partner, Amarillo's Country 97.9 KGNC FM. The show will broadcast under new name "The Golden Spread Agribusiness Update."

NewsDay Amarillo has now been pushed back to start at 6:30a, and will be extended until the 11a hour, with Tim Butler hosting, Mike Roden on sports, news director Kelly James has now swapped duties with Adam Cox. Kelly will be reporting traffic, with Adam now handling news, and "Doppler" Dave Oliver continuing as Chief Meteorologist.

The Rush Limbaugh Show is still on the air from 11a to 2p. The next major change is the addition of the Laura Ingraham Show to the afternoon time slot, which will air from 2p to 5p.

From 5p to 5:30p, Kelly James will now host a 30 minute edition of "NewsDay PM," followed by the Dave Ramsey Show until 7p. During the evening hours the station will air various sports programming, including NFL, NCAA football, TPSN High School Football, High School Football Scoreboard Show (Fridays at 10), and Texas Rangers will continue. The night will now close out with a show formerly aired on the station, Sports Byline USA with Ron Barr. Coast to Coast AM will still air the live show from mid-4a.

Additionally, the station has now changed from branding as "Amarillo's News Source" to "Amarillo's News Leader."

Now I wonder what it's going to take for NewsRadio 940, now identifying under the 'NewsTalk" title also, to start running a variety of programs during the week that don't come over a national satellite feed.
